Abstract

This research is motivated by the low understanding of basic locomotor movement techniques among third-grade students at MIN 1 Kota Lubuk Linggau, caused by the use of conventional, verbalistic learning methods. The primary objective of this study is to analyze the relationship and effectiveness of using visual media in clarifying basic movement concepts such as walking, running, jumping, and leaping. The research method employed is a quantitative pre- experimental approach with a One Group Pretest-Posttest design, involving a sample of 16 students. Data were collected through motor skill tests, engagement observations, and response questionnaires. The results showed a significant increase in the students' average scores, from 53.8 in the pretest to 81.4 in the posttest. Statistical analysis using the Paired Sample T-Test yielded a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, confirming a strong positive relationship between the utilization of visual media and the escalation of students' movement understanding. Visual media proved capable of providing concrete visualizationt that help students independently correct movement errors

Abstract

This study aims to analyze students’ basic movement skills in volleyball and to determine the improvement of these skills through structured learning using a pretest–posttest design. The research employed a quantitative descriptive approach with a one-group pretest–posttest design. The participants consisted of 23 students who took part in volleyball learning activities. The basic volleyball skills assessed included underhand passing, overhead passing, serving, smashing, and blocking. Data were collected through practical skill tests using an observation-based assessment rubric and were analyzed descriptively by comparing pretest and posttest results. The findings showed that the average pretest score was 63.30, which increased to 81.48 in the posttest, indicating a significant improvement in students’ basic volleyball movement skills after the learning intervention. The results demonstrate that structured and systematic volleyball skill learning effectively enhances students’ basic movement skills. Therefore, it is recommended that physical education teachers apply well-planned and continuous instructional strategies to improve students’ volleyball performance.
