Abstract

This study was started because the Grade VIII students at MTs Mutiara Al Qur’an had low agility levels, which was because their physical education lessons were not varied. The goal of this research was to see how using zig-zag running with cones could help improve students’ agility. The study used a quantitative method with a pretest and posttest for one group. There were 15 students in the study, chosen through purposive sampling. To collect data, the Illinois Agility Run Test was used, and the results were analyzed using descriptive statistics and a paired sample t-test. The results showed that agility improved a lot, as the average time went down from 22.12 seconds before the training to 19.66 seconds after. The statistical test showed a t-value of 13.52, which was higher than the t-table value of 2.145 (p < 0.05). This means that using cones for zig-zag running training had a big effect on improving agility. So, using cone-based zig-zag training can be a good and useful method in physical education classes.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the problem of uneven mastery of basic basketball techniques among Physical Education (Penjaskesrek) students of UNPARI Class 5B. The learning process has been dominated by the direct demonstration method without additional visual media treatment. This study aims to analyze the objective profile of students' skills in dribbling, passing, shooting, lay-up, and rebounding under these conventional conditions. The research method used is a quantitative descriptive approach with a survey technique through tests and measurements. The sample consisted of 23 students from Class 5B selected using the total sampling technique. The research instruments included the Zig-Zag Dribble Test, Pair Passing Test (1 minute), Shooting Test (1 minute), Continuous Lay-Up Test (1 minute), and Rebound Test, with scoring norms adapted from the latest standards. Data analysis used descriptive statistics with percentage formulas. The results showed that passing skills were in the "Very Good" category (average score > 35), while dribbling and lay-up skills were predominantly in the "Poor" and "Very Poor" categories (dribble > 7.1s; lay-up < 6 balls). It is concluded that direct demonstration is highly effective for teaching linear and repetitive techniques like passing but has significant limitations in transferring complex biomechanical skills such as dribbling and lay-ups.
