Abstract

Visual communication literacy has emerged as a strategic capability for coastal communities to independently promote ecotourism potential through digital media platforms. Pari Island in Kepulauan Seribu, Jakarta, holds rich ecotourism assets including mangrove conservation areas, coral reefs, and authentic local fishing culture. However, despite national tourism growth of 19.64% in 2025, Pari Island recorded a 3.07% decline in visitor arrivals, indicating a fundamental gap in destination communication strategy. This community service program aimed to strengthen visual communication literacy and green campaign skills among the Female Fisher Group (Kelompok Nelayan Perempuan) of Pari Island to support sustainable ecotourism branding aligned with SDG 8 on Decent Work and Economic Growth. A participatory approach was implemented through five stages: partner observation, practical guidebook development, visual literacy training, content production, and evaluation. The training was supported by a practical booklet titled "Panduan Praktis Literasi Komunikasi Visual Positif Berbasis Green Campaign untuk Branding Ekowisata Pulau Pari," covering photography basics, color psychology, brand identity, visual storytelling, content ideas, Canva design tutorial, and a content calendar. Involving 30 participants, the program demonstrated a satisfaction rate of 88.75%, with 70% expressing very high satisfaction. The program contributes to SDG 8 by expanding the economic capacity of coastal women through digital communication skills, opening new livelihood opportunities while preserving the ecological integrity of the island.
