Abstract

With serious physical, psychological, and social repercussions for both people and families, domestic violence (DV) continues to be a significant public health and social issue. To expand efforts to prevent domestic violence, community participation through increased information, good attitudes, social support, and preventive measures is crucial. The purpose of this study was to investigate how community members in Johan Pahlawan District, West Aceh Regency, relate to domestic violence prevention initiatives in terms of knowledge, attitudes, social support, and behaviors. 71 community leaders and health volunteers (cadres) participated in a cross-sectional quantitative survey. A structured questionnaire was used to gather the data, which were then subjected to univariate analysis and the Chi-square test with a significance threshold of 0.05. The majority of respondents (56.3%) had good knowledge, but negative attitudes (43.7%), little social support (40.8%), and poor actions (43.7%) were nevertheless common, according to the results. The majority of measures to prevent domestic violence were classified as fairly optimal (38.0%). Significant correlations between domestic violence prevention initiatives and knowledge (p = 0.000), attitudes (p = 0.000), social support (p = 0.000), and behaviors (p = 0.000) were found using bivariate analysis. To assist successful community-based domestic violence prevention and create safe, peaceful, and violence-free families, it is advised to strengthen community capacity through ongoing education, the empowerment of community leaders and health volunteers, and increased social support
