Abstract

The mining industry is a sector with a high level of occupational safety risk. One of the factors that can increase the risk of workplace accidents is work fatigue, as it may reduce the concentration, alertness, and productivity of heavy equipment operators. At PT Bara Energi Lestari, the coal getting process utilizes dump trucks equipped with a Driver Monitoring System (DMS) integrated into dashcams to monitor operators’ conditions. Based on preliminary monitoring conducted by the Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) department using this system, several operators exhibited signs of fatigue, such as repeated yawning and prolonged eye closure for several seconds. These conditions may increase the risk of occupational accidents, highlighting the need to identify the factors contributing to work fatigue among dump truck operators. This study aimed to analyze the factors causing work fatigue among dump truck operators during the coal getting process in the working area of PT Bara Energi Lestari. A qualitative study with a descriptive approach was employed to gain an in-depth understanding of the causes of work fatigue among dump truck operators. Informants were selected using a purposive sampling technique, involving five participants. Data were collected through observations and in-depth interviews. The findings identified several major factors contributing to operator fatigue, including internal factors (4–6 hours of sleep duration, low back pain, and consumption of carbohydrate-rich snacks) and external factors (extreme working environment, night shifts, travel distance, and workload). The dashcam monitoring system was considered highly effective as a company control measure. Operator fatigue resulted from the interaction of poor sleep quality due to night shifts, musculoskeletal complaints, carbohydrate consumption patterns, exposure to extreme working environments, workload, uneven haul roads, and mechanical vibration from the dump truck units.

Abstract

With serious physical, psychological, and social repercussions for both people and families, domestic violence (DV) continues to be a significant public health and social issue. To expand efforts to prevent domestic violence, community participation through increased information, good attitudes, social support, and preventive measures is crucial. The purpose of this study was to investigate how community members in Johan Pahlawan District, West Aceh Regency, relate to domestic violence prevention initiatives in terms of knowledge, attitudes, social support, and behaviors. 71 community leaders and health volunteers (cadres) participated in a cross-sectional quantitative survey. A structured questionnaire was used to gather the data, which were then subjected to univariate analysis and the Chi-square test with a significance threshold of 0.05. The majority of respondents (56.3%) had good knowledge, but negative attitudes (43.7%), little social support (40.8%), and poor actions (43.7%) were nevertheless common, according to the results. The majority of measures to prevent domestic violence were classified as fairly optimal (38.0%). Significant correlations between domestic violence prevention initiatives and knowledge (p = 0.000), attitudes (p = 0.000), social support (p = 0.000), and behaviors (p = 0.000) were found using bivariate analysis. To assist successful community-based domestic violence prevention and create safe, peaceful, and violence-free families, it is advised to strengthen community capacity through ongoing education, the empowerment of community leaders and health volunteers, and increased social support

Abstract

Addressing the unmet need for family planning remains a major challenge in global reproductive health. According to WHO data, approximately 164 million women out of a global total of 1.9 billion women of reproductive age face barriers regarding contraceptive access, resulting in unmet needs. Johan Pahlawan District has the highest concentration of couples of reproductive age(PUS) in West Aceh Regency and is also a hotspot for high rates of unmet family planning needs. This study aimed to empirically examine the associations between knowledge of family planning, exposure to family planning information, and concerns regarding contraceptive side effects, and the dynamics of unmet family planning needs among women of reproductive age (WUS) in Johan Pahlawan District, West Aceh. This quantitative study employed a cross-sectional design; from a population base of 1,259 couples of reproductive age, a representative sample of 93 respondents was selected using multistage sampling. Primary data were collected via structured questionnaires and analyzed using the Chi-Square test. The findings demonstrate that the level of family planning knowledge (p-value = 0.032) and exposure to family planning information (p-value = 0.016) are significantly associated with unmet family planning need status. However, the indicator regarding anxiety about contraceptive side effects yielded non-significant results (p-value = 0.470). Thus, it is concluded that the determinants of unmet family planning needs in this population are driven by factors related to knowledge and the dissemination of health information, rather than by fear of the medical side effects of the contraceptives themselves.

Abstract

The menstrual cycle is an essential indicator of female reproductive health, yet the prevalence of its disorders remains high globally, including WHO findings indicating an 80.7 percent rate of menstrual irregularity among female university students in Lebanon. A preliminary study at Universitas Teuku Umar also indicated similar complaints accompanied by indications of stress and lifestyle imbalances. This quantitative study with a cross-sectional design aimed to analyze the relationship between stress levels, dietary habits, sleep quality, and physical activity on the menstrual cycle of Public Health students at Universitas Teuku Umar. A total of 238 respondents were selected using a simple random sampling technique via the lottery method based on predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data were collected through online questionnaires and analyzed using the Chi-Square test, Fisher's Exact Test, and binary logistic regression. Bivariate analysis confirmed that stress levels (p=0.000; PR=28.33; OR=86.56; V=0.587), dietary habits (p=0.000; PR=7.055; OR=10.488; V=0.248), sleep quality (p=0.000; PR=10.46; OR=18.83; V=0.444), and physical activity (p=0.000; PR=2.80; OR=4.50; V=0.331) were significantly associated with the menstrual cycle. At the multivariate stage, the variables of stress level, sleep quality, and physical activity were proven to independently maintain their significance within the model. It can be concluded that lifestyle determinants and psychological conditions have a strong correlation with the stability of the menstrual cycle in female university students.

Abstract

Advancements in information technology have fostered a new culture with its own distinct values and norms, offering adolescents a wider range of social interaction options, such as spending time together. The WHO defines gaming addiction as a pattern of gaming behavior—whether online or offline—characterized by signs such as an inability to control the urge to play, prioritizing gaming over other activities or interests, and persisting in gaming despite being aware of its negative consequences. This study aims to determine whether there is a relationship between gaming duration, self-regulation, gaming frequency, and academic procrastination and online gaming addiction among students at SMA Negeri 1 Meulaboh. The study employs a quantitative method with an analytic observational approach and a cross-sectional design. The sample consists of 221 students selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected via an online questionnaire developed by the researcher based on established operational theories and subjected to validity and reliability testing; the data were subsequently analyzed using Chi-Square and Binary Logistic Regression. The study results indicate that gaming duration (p=0.001; PR=3.424; OR=4.270; Phi=0.239), self-regulation (p=0.018; PR=3.015; OR=3.876; Phi=0.179), gaming frequency (p<0.001; PR=5.714; OR=11.400; Phi=0.304), and academic procrastination (p<0.000; PR=14.286; OR=18.390; Phi=0.342) are significantly associated with online game addiction. Multivariate analysis reveals that academic procrastination is the most dominant factor (Exp(B)=8.246), followed by gaming frequency (Exp(B)=4.297). It can be concluded from this study that behavioral factors are significantly related to online game addiction among students, with academic procrastination being the most dominant variable.

Abstract

Adolescent mental health is an important issue in education and psychology. According to the World Health Organization (2025), approximately 14.3% of adolescents aged 10-19 years experience mental health problems, with anxiety being one of the most common conditions. In Indonesia, the Ministry of Health's Free Health Check (CKG) program (2026) found that nearly 10% of screened children showed indications of mental health disorders. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of bubble wrap media therapy in reducing anxiety levels among ninth-grade students at SMP Negeri 3 Meulaboh, West Aceh Regency. A quasi-experimental method with a pretest-posttest control group design was employed. The sample consisted of 60 respondents, including 30 students in the Intervention group and 30 in the control group. Anxiety levels were measured using the DASS-21 questionnaire and analyzed using the Mann-Whitney test. The median post-intervention anxiety score was 34.00 (25-50) in the intervention group and 36.00 (25-71) in the control group. The Mann-Whitney test showed p = 0.318 (p>0.05), indicating no statistically significant difference between the two groups. Bubble wrap media therapy was not statistically effective in reducing anxiety levels but may serve as a simple relaxation technique for further investigation.
