Abstract

The menstrual cycle is an essential indicator of female reproductive health, yet the prevalence of its disorders remains high globally, including WHO findings indicating an 80.7 percent rate of menstrual irregularity among female university students in Lebanon. A preliminary study at Universitas Teuku Umar also indicated similar complaints accompanied by indications of stress and lifestyle imbalances. This quantitative study with a cross-sectional design aimed to analyze the relationship between stress levels, dietary habits, sleep quality, and physical activity on the menstrual cycle of Public Health students at Universitas Teuku Umar. A total of 238 respondents were selected using a simple random sampling technique via the lottery method based on predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data were collected through online questionnaires and analyzed using the Chi-Square test, Fisher's Exact Test, and binary logistic regression. Bivariate analysis confirmed that stress levels (p=0.000; PR=28.33; OR=86.56; V=0.587), dietary habits (p=0.000; PR=7.055; OR=10.488; V=0.248), sleep quality (p=0.000; PR=10.46; OR=18.83; V=0.444), and physical activity (p=0.000; PR=2.80; OR=4.50; V=0.331) were significantly associated with the menstrual cycle. At the multivariate stage, the variables of stress level, sleep quality, and physical activity were proven to independently maintain their significance within the model. It can be concluded that lifestyle determinants and psychological conditions have a strong correlation with the stability of the menstrual cycle in female university students.
