Abstract

PT. Borneo Lintas Dunia works in travel and tourism. The company needs to provide great service. This keeps customers happy and ensures they have a good travel experience. This study explores how Interpersonal Communication and Emotional Intelligence impact Tour Guide Performance. This research focuses on the need for guides. They help create enjoyable travel experiences. The research employed a quantitative method with an explanatory research design. The sample had 106 respondents. Researchers selected respondents using purposive, non-probability sampling. We collected data from respondents using Microsoft Excel. Then, we analyzed it with SPSS version 26. Interpersonal communication greatly affects tour guide performance. However, Emotional Intelligence does not significantly affect it. Good verbal and non-verbal communication helps tour guides connect with clients. This study shows its importance. This connection is key to improving performance in this group. Emotional Intelligence is usually seen as key in service roles. However, these results show it wasn't a major factor for these respondents. Therefore, it is recommended that future researchers select a different sample and expand the scope of their research to incorporate diverse perspectives.

Abstract

This study aims to determine and analyze the effects of organizational experience and competence on the work readiness of final-year university students, both partially and simultaneously. The study was motivated by variations in students’ levels of involvement in student organizations and their mastery of competencies that support their readiness for the workplace among students of the Management Study Program, Class of 2023, at Widya Dharma University Pontianak. This study employed a quantitative approach using an associative research design. The sample consisted of 92 respondents, determined using the Slovin formula and selected through simple random sampling. Data were collected using a 5-point Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using multiple linear regression analysis with the assistance of SPSS. The results of the instrument testing showed that all items were valid and reliable. The regression analysis produced the equation Y = 4.924 + 0.586X1 + 0.457X2. The t-test results indicated that organizational experience (t-count = 8.401; sig. = 0.000) and competence (t-count = 5.857; sig. = 0.000) each had a positive and significant partial effect on work readiness. The F-test results showed that both variables simultaneously had a significant effect on work readiness (F-count = 47.456; sig. = 0.000). The Adjusted R Square value of 0.505 indicates that organizational experience and competence explain 50.5% of the variation in work readiness, while the remaining 49.5% is explained by other variables outside the scope of this study. These findings indicate that organizational experience has a relatively stronger influence on students’ work readiness than competence.
