Abstract

This study aims to examine the practices of contraceptive use among couples of reproductive ages, as well as the perspectives of Islamic law and Sharia economics regarding such use. The study employs a qualitative approach and is classified as field research. Data sources consist of both primary and secondary data, collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis follows the Miles and Huberman model, comprising: (1) data reduction, (2) data display, and (3) conclusion drawing and verification. The study concludes that: (1) the use of contraceptives has become an option for couples of reproductive ages to plan for a healthier and more prosperous family life; (2) from an Islamic legal perspective, the use of temporary contraceptives is generally permissible, provided it does not conflict with Sharia principles; and (3) from a Sharia economic perspective, the use of contraceptives contributes positively to family welfare.
