Abstract

This study examines the effects of the work environment and workload on employee performance and tests the mediating role of Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB) among employees of PT Bank Syariah Indonesia in the Lhokseumawe Area. A quantitative survey was conducted using a saturated sample of 160 employees. Data were collected through an 18-item questionnaire measured on a five-point Likert scale and analyzed using covariance-based Structural Equation Modeling with IBM SPSS AMOS. The modified structural model was reported as sufficiently fit, with GFI = 0.906, RMSEA = 0.044, TLI = 0.946, CFI = 0.957, and CMIN/DF = 1.313. The findings show significant positive relationships between work environment and OCB, workload and OCB, OCB and employee performance, workload and employee performance, and work environment and employee performance. The mediation analysis further shows that OCB partially mediates the effects of both work environment and workload on employee performance. These results emphasize the importance of a supportive work environment, proportional workload management, and voluntary extra-role behavior in sustaining employee performance in Islamic banking operations.
