Abstract

Academic discipline is an essential trait that students must possess for the learning process to be successful. Schools can foster discipline through Scouting extracurricular activities. This study aims to examine the effect of Scouting extracurricular activities on students’ academic discipline at SDN Crabak in Ponorogo Regency. The study employed a quantitative approach with a correlational research design using simple linear regression analysis. The sample consisted of 50 students selected using saturation sampling. The research instruments included questionnaires on Scouting extracurricular activities and academic discipline, both of which had passed validity and reliability tests. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 29. The analysis included validity and reliability tests, descriptive statistics, normality tests, linearity tests, t-tests, F-tests, simple linear regression, and the coefficient of determination. The study found that Scouting extracurricular activities have a positive and significant effect on students’ academic discipline. The calculated t-value was 7.314, with a significance level of less than 0.001. The regression equation obtained was Y = 3.299 + 0.854X. This means that every one-unit increase in Scouting activities increases academic discipline by 0.854 units. Based on an R² value of 0.549, Scouting extracurricular activities contribute 54.9 % to students’ academic discipline. Other factors account for the remaining 45.1 %. These findings indicate that the Scouting extracurricular activity is an effective school program for fostering students’ discipline in learning.
