Abstract

This community service activity is motivated by the problems at TPQ Al-Karomah and TPQ Nurul Hidayah in Sumberagung Village, namely the non-implementation of the Tilawati method, the lack of teachers' technical skills in teaching with this method, and the lack of parental support in assisting children to read the Qur'an at home. The purpose of this program is to introduce the Tilawati method and empower Qur'an students in the village. The implementation method used is service learning which focuses on direct mentoring in teaching and learning activities at the TPQs and the distribution of the "Tajwid Praktis" pocket book. The results of the activity showed an overall improvement in the students' Qur'an reading abilities, with the number of fluent students increasing from 55 to 71 (from 43.3% to 55.9%) out of a total of 127 students in both TPQs. In addition, 15 TPQ teachers gained direct experience in applying the Tilawati method's techniques. The distribution of the "Tajwid Praktis" pocket book also successfully facilitated students to learn independently at home to overcome the lack of parental assistance. In conclusion, the tahsin program and the introduction of the Tilawati method provide a positive impact that makes Qur'an learning more directed and varied. These service results are highly important as a strategic step for TPQs to continuously improve the quality of students' readings sustainably.
