Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease with an increasing prevalence and a high risk of serious complications. Efforts to prevent complications are strongly influenced by patient behavior, which is partly determined by the level of knowledge. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between knowledge level and complication prevention behavior among patients with DM at Daruba Primary Health Center. This study employed a quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 43 respondents were selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires measuring knowledge level and complication prevention behavior, and were analyzed using the chi-square test with a significance level of 0.05. The results showed that most respondents had moderate to good knowledge and moderate levels of complication prevention behavior. Bivariate analysis revealed a significant relationship between knowledge level and complication prevention behavior among DM patients (p < 0.05), indicating that respondents with better knowledge tended to have better preventive behavior. In conclusion, there is a significant relationship between knowledge level and complication prevention behavior among patients with Diabetes Mellitus. Adequate knowledge plays an important role in promoting optimal self-care behavior. Therefore, healthcare providers at primary health centers are expected to enhance structured and continuous education programs to improve patient knowledge and prevent complications. Improving knowledge is essential to promote complication prevention behavior in DM patients. Structured education is needed to improve knowledge and preventive behavior among DM patients.

Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) remains a major global health problem with high morbidity and mortality rates. The success of TB treatment is largely determined by patient adherence to anti-tuberculosis drug (OAT) therapy. One of the factors influencing adherence is the patient's level of knowledge regarding the disease and its treatment. This Study aimed to analyze the relationship between knowledge level and patient adherence to OAT therapy at Daruba Primary Health Center. This Study employed a quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 43 respondents were selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires measuring knowledge level and adherence to OAT therapy and were analyzed using the chi-square test with a significance level of 0.05. The results showed that most respondents had moderate to good knowledge and moderate levels of adherence. Bivariate analysis revealed a significant relationship between knowledge level and adherence to OAT therapy (p < 0.05), indicating that respondents with better knowledge tended to be more adherent to treatment. In conclusion, there is a significant relationship between knowledge level and adherence to OAT therapy among tuberculosis patients. Adequate knowledge plays an important role in improving patient adherence to treatment. Therefore, structured and continuous educational interventions by healthcare providers are needed to enhance patient understanding and improve TB treatment outcomes. Adequate knowledge plays an important role in improving adherence to OAT therapy among TB patients. Continuous education is needed to improve knowledge and adherence among TB patients.
