Academic stress is a significant problem faced by university student and can negatively affect their mental health. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between academic stress levels and mental health among university student in Lhokseumawe City in 2026. A quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design was employed. The study population and sample consisted of 100 active students from Faculty of Health, Technology, and Science at Universitas Bumi Persada and the Faculty of Computer and Multimedia at Universitas Islam Kebangsaan Indonesia. Data were collected using the Sel-Reporting Questionnaire (SRQ-20) for mental health and the Perceived cademic Stress Scale (PASS) through Google Forms. The study was conducted at Universitas Bumi Persada and Universitas Islam Kebangsaan Indonesia in May 2026. The results showed that 79%of respondents were at risk of mental health problems, while 79% experienced high levels of academic stress. Bivariate analysis using the Pearson correlation test revealed a significant positive correlation between academic stress and mental health status (r= 0.691; p < 0.001). These findings indicate that higher levels of academic stress are associated with poorer mental health among university students. This study is expected to serve as a reference for educational instituation in developing psychological support programs for students and increasing awareness of the importance of mental health within the academic environment.
