Abstract

Pregnant women in RW 05, Sukarindik Village, within the working area of UPTD Puskesmas Sukalaksana, Tasikmalaya City, had suboptimal knowledge regarding Long-Term Contraceptive Methods (LTCM/MKJP) for postpartum contraception. Short-term methods were more familiar, while myths concerning safety, insertion pain, fertility, and side effects remained. The aim of this community service activity is to increase knowledge, understanding, positive perceptions, and readiness to choose MKJP for postpartum contraception through antenatal education. A community service activity was conducted on August 3, 2026 at the RW 05 Posyandu Hall involving 17 pregnant women. The intervention consisted of structured education using presentation/audio-visual media, leaflets, family planning Information-Education-Communication materials, and a family planning decision-making aid, followed by discussion, individual consultation, and pre-test/post-test evaluation. The mean knowledge score increased from 53.2 before education to 88.2 after education, with a mean increase of 35 points. All 17 participants showed increased scores. Structured antenatal education in this community service activity was followed by improved knowledge regarding postpartum MKJP and supported readiness for informed contraceptive decision-making.
