Abstract

Religious symbols or terms are often used in political contests in Indonesia, including in Bali. In Tabanan Regency, under the leadership of Regent I Komang Gede Sanjaya and Deputy Regent I Made Edi Wirawan, the vision is articulated as “Nangun Sat Kerthi Loka Bali melalui Pola Pembangunan Semesta Berencana menuju Tabanan Era Baru yang Aman, Unggul, Madani (AUM)”. The use of the acronym “AUM” is particularly interesting, as in Hinduism, the term “AUM” symbolizes the divine power of God with its three manifestations: Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva. This study aims to: 1) Examine the meaning of the acronym “AUM” in the communication between the Tabanan Regency Government and the community; 2) Identify the impact of using the acronym “AUM” in such communication; and 3) Analyze the social ethics of using “AUM” in Tabanan Regency. This research used Semiotics Theory, Mass Communication Effects Theory, and Social Morality Theory. This research adopts a qualitative descriptive approach, with informants selected through purposive sampling. The findings indicate that the use of the acronym “AUM” in communication carries both political and philosophical significance. It is perceived to have positive impacts. From a social ethics perspective, the use of the acronym “AUM” has not yet received formal criticism, but further socialization is encouraged. In conclusion, the use of the acronym “AUM” by the Tabanan Regency Government is having positive impacts. However, broader socialization is necessary to clarify the distinction between the political aspect of “AUM” as an acronym and “AUM” as a sacred symbol in Hinduism. Abstract

This study aims to examine the extent of the correlation between digital communication based on Hindu teachings in supporting the achievement of Indonesia's Golden Vision 2045 through the TikTok app. The approach used in this study is a quantitative method with a survey technique, involving a sample of 40 respondents whose data were collected via questionnaires. The data analysis results show a significant relationship between digital communication based on Hindu teachings (X) and the achievement of Indonesia's Golden Vision 2045 (Y), as evidenced by a significance value of 0.013, which is smaller than the table significance value of 0.05. Additionally, the correlation coefficient between variables X and Y is 0.388, which is greater than the table correlation value of 0.301. Based on these results, the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected, and the alternative hypothesis (H1) is accepted, confirming the existence of a correlation between digital communication based on Hindu teachings and the achievement of Indonesia's Golden Vision 2045 through TikTok. The findings of this study are expected to serve as a recommendation for the Hindu community to become more active in utilizing the digital world as a medium for spreading religious teachings, in order to support Indonesia's Golden Vision 2045 and instill spiritual and character values in society.

Abstract

Second account menciptakan dinamika dramatis baru dalam konteks media sosial, dimana individu memiliki lebih banyak kendali atas presentasi diri pengguna dan cara individu berinteraksi dengan berbagai audiens. Penggunaan second account dapat dianggap sebagai bentuk dramaturgi digital, dimana individu secara sadar membentuk dan memainkan peran dalam pertunjukan online media sosial Instagram. Sejalan dengan pandangan Goffman tentang interaksi sosial sebagai suatu dramaturgi, setiap individu berusaha untuk mengekspresikan diri sesuai dengan harapan sosial dan menciptakan kesan yang diinginkan dihadapan orang lain. Istilah panggung depan merujuk pada apa yang ditampilkan saat individu berinteraksi dengan orang lain atau dalam konteks kelompok sosial dimasyarakat, yang mencerminkan identitas sosial yang diinginkan. Hasil penelitian terdapat penerapan teori dramaturgi pada aktivitas sosial media Instagram mahasiswa UHN I Gusti Bagus Sugriwa Denpasar. Mahasiswa memberikan informasi bagaimana aktivitas first account yang mencerminkan bagaimana mahasiswa ingin dikenal oleh pengikut media sosial Instagram agar dapat mencitrakan diri sebaik mungkin. Pada second account aktivitas media sosial yang hanya dapat diakses kalangan tertentu untuk menampilkan sisi yang berbeda dari first account.

Abstract

In Colol villages, located in East Manggarai Regency, coffee cultivation has become a key source of income for locals to meet their daily requirements. Farmers sell their coffee produce to collectors or other marketing institutions, which necessitates expenses on their part. They receive income from the sale of their coffee. The quantity of coffee produced, be it high or low, has an impact on the farmers' earnings. Therefore, the utilization of social media, like sisal media, is expected to boost the coffee marketing income of farmers. The aim of this research is to ascertain the complete coffee marketing process and the effectiveness of social media in coffee marketing. There are two coffee marketing channels: through coffee farmers, large traders, and exporters, or through social media. After analyzing marketing expenses, selling and buying prices, and the profits of each marketing institution involved.

Abstract

Pigs have a very important role for the people of Bali, both from an economic and socio-cultural perspective. Darmasaba Village, Badung Regency is one of the areas known as the central place for slaughtering and selling pork. Business actors need to develop and increase the productivity of the pig farming business by taking into account the business opportunity factor in accordance with the sales volume and demand for pork, including the conditions of pork traders, both in supermarkets and semi-modern (fresh markets), as well as traditional markets. The purpose of this study was to determine the income from the slaughter pig business at traditional pig slaughterers in Darmasaba Village. From the results obtained for each traditional cutting in Darmasaba village, sales are carried out only at Grade B and Grade C prices. Net income (profit) is 3,910,000/head (in 100 kg) for grade B and Rp. 1,440,000/head (in 100 kg) for grade c. The several obstacles faced by pig farming actors in Darmasaba Village, Abiansemal District, Badung Regency, include (1) Fluctuating Pork Prices, (2) Some Pig Traders still use Traditional Scales, (3) Sometimes poor quality pigs, (4) Stock pigs which are sometimes scarce, (5) There is no veterinarian in traditional butchers.

Abstract

Water is an important subject in Hinduism, including in Bali. The Bhagawad Gītā, Mānava Dharmaśāstra, and a number of manuscripts in Bali teach water conservation. However, there is currently water pollution in lakes, rivers, and the sea. This is a cause for concern, because Bali has been famous for its natural beauty and sustainability. The main cause of pollution is human activity, such as garbage and waste disposal, which affects water quality. This is contrary to Hinduism, which teaches the preservation of nature, including water. Before the pollution gets worse, it is necessary to build awareness of water conservation. The government and traditional villages have issued various regulations. This needs to be implemented by the community for the sustainability of the environment, especially the quality and quantity of water in Bali. The method used in this paper is qualitative with literature review. Several research results on water in Bali were collected and then analyzed. The author also took information from mass media and books. The results  from this article reveal that the reality of pollution in several lakes in Bali contradicts Hindu teachings, which emphasize the importance of water conservation. This scientific article is expected to inspire all interested parties to jointly preserve water for nature and human life.
