Abstract

This community service activity (KKN) of Universitas Muhammadiyah Berauaims to increase the understanding and awareness of Micro, Small, and MediumEnterprises (MSMEs) in Kampung Pulau Besing regarding the importance ofobtaining the Home Industry Food Permit (PIRT) as a form of legality forprocessed food products. Kampung Pulau Besing is one of the tourism-basedvillages in Berau with strong potential for developing local products as typicalsouvenirs. However, field observations show that most MSMEs have not yetfulfilled food safety standards and lack knowledge about the PIRT registrationprocess. This program was implemented through a collaborative approachbetween the Community Service Program (KKN) Team of UniversitasMuhammadiyah Berau and Puskesmas Merancang Ulu by conducting foodsafety education, explaining PIRT requirements, and introducing safeproduction practices. The results indicate that MSMEs gained better awarenessof food safety, production hygiene, and the steps required to obtain PIRTcertification. This activity is expected to motivate MSMEs to improve productquality, expand marketing opportunities, and enhance competitiveness insupporting Pulau Besing as a tourism village.
