Abstract

One of the economic sectors hardest hit by the Covid-19 in Indonesia is MSMEs. During the Covid-19 pandemic, business capital assistance is urgently needed by MSMEs to keep running. Mudharabah and musharakah are Islamic banking financing products explicitly aimed at business needs and investment in the real sector, such as MSMEs. Therefore, a more in-depth quantitative analysis is needed regarding the role of mudharabah and musharakah contracts on MSMEs financing during the Covid-19 using panel data regression techniques, with a monthly observation period from March 2020 to May 2021 for all Islamic banking in Indonesia. With the Fixed Effect Model approach, it was found that the mudharabah and musharakah contracts statistically had no significant effect on MSMEs financing during the Covid-19. The conclusion is that during the Covid-19, there was an increase in MSMEs financing with mudharabah contracts, but it was not significant. In contrast, the musharakah contract did not increase the contribution to MSMEs financing.

Abstract

This research aims to compare and analyze the efficiency of Islamic banking in Southeast Asia and the Middle East by examining particular inputs such as third-party funds, operational expenses, labor costs, and return on assets, focusing on financing as the output. This quantitative study uses a purposive sampling technique to sample 30 sharia banks from Southeast Asia and 30 sharia banks from the Middle East from 2015 to 2022. The data used is secondary data from BankFocus and the annual financial reports of each bank. Data was processed using the Frontier 4.1 application with the Stochastic Frontier Analysis method. The results of this research show that the efficiency of sharia banking in the Middle East is higher than sharia banking in Southeast Asia. On the other hand, the return on assets has no impact on financing, but the input of third-party funds, operational expenses, and labor costs all have an impact. These findings show the importance of efficiently supervising the management of third-party funds and costs incurred by banks in order to improve banking performance. Hence, this will ultimately lead to an increase in the efficiency of sharia banking and a growth of banking profits.

Abstract

This community service initiative stems from the issue of inadequate domestic waste management in the village of Sakatiga, specifically in the Raudatul Ulum Pesantren area, Ogan Ilir Regency, South Sumatra. This community service aims to raise awareness among the local population that waste management issues are not truly resolved at the landfill site. It also seeks to inform the community that carbon emissions, climate change, and global warming are also consequences of poor waste management. Therefore, the residents must actively maintain environmental cleanliness productively and sustainably. By employing experiential learning and practical application methods, The activity was carried out through several stages, including socialisation and educational sessions, interactive discussions, training, and hands-on field practice in simple domestic waste management techniques, such as waste segregation and proper treatment of different waste types. The community service quite successfully encouraged the local residents to start segregating and managing their household waste more effectively and sustainably. Thus, the pollution and carbon emissions around the village were reduced, contributing to a cleaner and healthier environment.

Abstract

This paper examines the impact of strategic sub-components of the Global Competitiveness Index (GCI) on the Logistics Performance Index (LPI), positing a correlation between the LPI and selected GCI factors, specifically within the infrastructure domain—namely, the indicators of Road Quality, Rail Service Efficiency, Port Efficiency, Air Transport Efficiency, and Electrification. The objective is to identify which indicators within the infrastructure sector most significantly affect the Logistics Performance Index. In this study, the LPI is the dependent variable, while the five previously mentioned competitiveness indicators act as independent variables. Top of Form A panel data regression analysis was employed to evaluate how these independent variables influence the dependent variable. The data for this study were derived from the World Bank, specifically the LPI of the World Bank and the World Economic Forum, covering countries in the ASEAN region from 2012 to 2020. The findings indicate that, among the five indicators, Port Efficiency significantly impacts the Logistics Performance Index in the ASEAN region. Furthermore, both Air Transportation Efficiency and Electrification significantly influence the Logistics Performance Index. Conversely, Road Quality and Rail Service Efficiency do not significantly affect the Logistics Performance Index in the ASEAN region.
