Abstract

The This study aims to determine the effect of using Canva AI-based digital interactive media on the mathematics learning outcomes of second-grade students. An experimental method was employed using a quasi-experimental, pretest-posttest control group design. The research subjects consisted of two second-grade classes: an experimental class taught using Canva AI-based digital interactive media and a control class taught without such media. Data collection involved learning outcome tests (pretest and posttest) that had undergone validity testing. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, normality tests, homogeneity tests, hypothesis testing, and N-gain analysis. The results showed that the average posttest score of the experimental class was higher than that of the control class; the experimental class achieved an average score of 12,03, while the control class averaged 10,44. Normality tests indicated that the posttest data were normally distributed and homogeneous. The t-test yielded a two-tailed significance value of 0,005 (p < 0,05), and the N-gain score of 0,408 fell into the medium category. These findings demonstrate that the use of Canva AI-based digital interactive media has a significant effect on improving the mathematics learning outcomes of second-grade students regarding addition and subtraction. Thus, Canva AI-based media serves as an effective alternative for enhancing elementary school students' understanding of mathematical concepts.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine whether fifth graders' grasp of mathematical concepts related to the Least Common Multiple (LCM) and the Greatest Common Divisor (GCD) is influenced by the Concrete-Pictorial-Abstract approach when it is combined with congklak media. This quantitative inquiry followed a One-Group Pretest-Posttest pre-experimental design. Using purposive sampling, 23 pupils of class V-A were involved. The instrument consisted of seven essay questions built on Kilpatrick's six conceptual understanding indicators, and two experts confirmed its content validity (Gregory's CV = 0.85). All computations were run in Jamovi for Windows, covering Shapiro-Wilk testing for normality, a paired-samples t-test, and Cohen's d as the measure of effect size. Pupils' conceptual understanding in mathematics turned out to improve positively and significantly after they learned through Concrete Pictorial Abstract assisted by congklak media. The t-test returned p < 0.001 (< 0.05), and the average score moved from 19.6 to 23.1; hence, the alternative hypothesis was supported, and the magnitude of the effect fell in the large range (Cohen's d = −1.46). These outcomes suggest that teachers can strengthen fifth graders' mastery of LCM and GCD by applying Concrete Pictorial Abstract with congklak media more optimally.

Abstract

This research is conducted to evaluate the effect of the Wordwall learning medium on the second-grade students' interest in learning mathematics. A quasi-experimental approach via a nonequivalent control group design was applied in this study. The investigation involved a sample of 63 participants, distributed into 31 individuals for the experimental cohort and 32 for the control cohort. To evaluate their learning interest, questionnaires focusing on four key indicators namely feelings of enjoyment, student engagement, student attention, and student interest were distributed both prior to and following the treatment. The collected data were processed using descriptive statistics, alongside normality and homogeneity assessments, followed by hypothesis testing using the Mann-Whitney U test. The descriptive data revealed that the experimental cohort's mean score for learning interest rose from 39.29 during the pretest to 52.90 in the posttest, whereas the control cohort only experienced an upgrade from 39.09 to 45.72. Furthermore, the Mann-Whitney U test generated a significance value of 0.005, falling well below the 0.05 alpha level. This statistical output confirms a notable disparity in mathematics learning interest between the two monitored groups. In conclusion, the deployment of the Wordwall learning medium exerts a significant effect on the students' interest in learning mathematics at the second-grade elementary school level.

Abstract

This research evaluates how interactive digital games influence the math scores of second-grade primary schoolers, specifically in addition and subtraction. The investigation was prompted by low student numeracy levels and a lack of engaging educational tools to help them grasp fundamental arithmetic. Utilizing a quantitative framework, the author implemented a quasi-experimental approach with a nonequivalent control group setup. The study involved 63 second-grade pupils from a Tangerang City elementary school, split into experimental and control cohorts. Pre- and post-test scores were gathered and evaluated through tests for normality, homogeneity, and independent-samples t-tests. Post-intervention data showed that the experimental cohort reached an average score of 84.35, whereas the control cohort averaged 59.06. The hypothesis analysis revealed a significance score of 0.001 (p < 0.05), confirming a statistically meaningful gap in academic performance between both groups. Ultimately, this paper discusses the integration of various web-based digital game platforms for early math instruction, offering concrete evidence on utilizing interactive technology for elementary arithmetic education.
