Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the role of integrating moral values in addressing the adolescent mental health crisis through a comprehensive approach. The study was conducted in Rokan Hulu using a mixed methods sequential explanatory design involving 50 Islamic school students. Quantitative data were collected through questionnaires to measure levels of anxiety, stress, and depression, as well as the application of moral values. These data were then analyzed using descriptive statistics and correlation. The qualitative phase was conducted through in-depth interviews to deepen the quantitative results. The results showed that the majority of respondents were in the moderate mental health category, namely anxiety (46%), stress (42%), and depression (40%), while moral values were in the high categories such as shukr (52%) and sabr (48%). The correlation test showed a significant negative relationship between moral values and mental health, with the highest value being found in the relationship between shukr and depression (r = -0.55). The qualitative findings reinforce that moral values function as a coping strategy in dealing with psychological stress. The findings implied that integrating akhlak values into mental health support programs in Islamic schools can contribute to a more holistic and culturally responsive approach to adolescent well-being, particularly by strengthening students’ spiritual coping resources alongside psychological support.
