Abstract

An agricultural business is a business that is always characterized by yield variability or high risk. The implementation of lowland rice farming contains many risks which result in a decrease in production, some of which cannot be controlled. Increasing the production of farmers and farm managers must understand and be able to apply the factors of production properly, otherwise, the increase in production will not be achieved. The purpose of this study was to analyze the production risk of rainfed lowland rice farming and analyze the production factors of rainfed lowland rice farming. This research was conducted in Pacikong Baja Village, Labakkang District, Bonto Kio Village, Minasatene District, and Pangkajene Islands Regency. The research was carried out from October - November 2023. The total research population was 238 people and 25% of the total population was taken as research samples, namely 60 farmers. The sample of farmers was taken using a simple random sampling method. Data collection techniques used are observation/observation, and interviews. The types of data are qualitative and quantitative data. There are two sources of data, namely primary and secondary data. Data analysis used is risk analysis and multiple regression. The results showed that based on the large value of the coefficient of variation, it could be seen that farmers in Pacikong Baja Village and Bonto Kio Village were at risk (CV > 0.50) in carrying out rice farming in rainfed rice fields. The results of production risk in Bonto Kio Village are greater than in Pacikong Baja Village. It can be concluded that rainfed lowland rice farming is categorized as risky in production. Factors that have a real and positive influence on the production of rainfed lowland rice farming are land area, amount of urea fertilizer, amount of pesticides, and farming experience. While the real and negative effect is the number of seeds.

Abstract

Increasing rice productivity is closely related to the ability of farmers to efficiently allocate various factors of production so that they can maximize their potential in agricultural activities. Farmers are considered technically efficient when the optimal use of inputs produces maximum output. Farmers must have the right consideration in production to get the best profit. Lowland rice income levels are expected to increase if an area has a high feasibility ratio. The purpose of this study was to analyze the technical efficiency, income, and feasibility of farming rainfed lowland rice farming. This research was conducted in Coppo Village, Barru District, and Lempang Village, Tanete Riaja District, Barru Regency. The research population was 232 people and the number of samples was 50 people. Farmer samples were taken using a multi-stage cluster random sampling technique. Data collection techniques used are observation, interviews, and documentation. Data sources are primary and secondary data. The data analysis method used is the analysis of technical efficiency, income, and feasibility. The results of this study indicate that rainfed lowland rice farming in Barru Regency is technically efficient by 76%. The income of rainfed lowland rice farming in Barru Regency is Rp. 7,532,938.39/PS. Rainfed lowland rice farming in Barru Regency is feasible to be cultivated with a feasibility value of 2.30.

Abstract

Increases and decreases in production affect the income or profitability of farmers and welfare related to socio-economic conditions. The purpose of this study was to analyze socio-economic factors that affect profitability and the profitability of rainfed lowland rice farming. This research was conducted in Bontocabu Village, Lau District, and Bontobahari Village, Bontoa District, Maros Regency. The study was conducted in September - October 2024. The population of the study was 317 people, while the number of farmer samples used as respondents was 50 people. Sampling using multi-stage cluster random sampling technique. Data collection techniques used were observation, and interviews, while data sources were primary data and secondary data. Data analysis used multiple regression and quantitative description. The results of this study are socio-economic factors that affect the profitability of rainfed lowland rice farming are age, area of cultivation, and farming experience. Profitability was obtained at 62.18%. This shows that the profitability of rice farming is greater than the bank deposit interest rate (BRI 3%), meaning that rice farming is viable or profitable. As for the Break Event Point (BEP), a result of IDR. 367,589.18 was obtained. This shows that the value of BEP is smaller than the average revenue, which is IDR 8,087,580.00. This means that rice farming on rainfed rice fields is worth cultivating.

Abstract

The best or maximum income is achieved when the production level is optimal. Farmer income is one of the motivations for farmers to carry out their farming business. Profitability or farmer income and supported by good farming feasibility through the large ratio of income to farming costs. This research aims to analyze the comparative income, feasibility, and profitability of rainfed lowland rice farming. This research was conducted in Sape'e and Coppo Villages, Barru District, and Lompo Tengah and Lempang Villages, Tanete Riaja District, Barru Regency. The total population of the study was 367 people, while the sample of farmers who were used as respondents was 70 people. To get the number of samples a multi-stage cluster random sampling technique. Data collection techniques used are observation/observation, interviews, and documentation. Data sources in this research are primary data and secondary data. The data analysis method used is quantitative descriptive analysis and profitability with an independent sample t-test. The results showed that the income from rainfed lowland rice farming in the Tanete Riaja District was greater than that of the Barru District. Meanwhile, feasibility and profitability (Net Farm Income, Return on Investment, and Break Event Point) do not have a big difference between Barru District and Tanete Riaja District. Rice farming income in the research area still needs to be increased by reducing production input costs and the government must maintain subsidies for production inputs, especially fertilizer. With this subsidy, fertilizer use as recommended can be carried out to increase the production produced by farmers.

Abstract

Income aims to describe the state of ongoing agricultural activities and to describe the conditions of plans or actions in the future. A high feasibility ratio is expected to increase the income level of farmers. The survival of agriculture is a measure to state that the business is feasible in the sense that it can provide and generate profits. The purpose of this study was to analyze the comparative income and feasibility of rainfed lowland rice farming. Data collection techniques used are observation/observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis method used is quantitative descriptive analysis for income and feasibility. The results showed that the average income in Barru District was IDR 4,803,663.33. While the average income in Tanete Riaja District is IDR 7,042,598.06. Based on the results of the t-test analysis, there is a difference and a significant effect with an error rate of 1% in terms of income. Barru District (Sape'e and Coppo Villages) obtained an R/C ratio value of 1.94. It can be interpreted that each expenditure costs IDR 1.00 then you will get an income of IDR 1.94. Meanwhile, Tanete Riaja Subdistrict (Lompo Tengah and Lempang Villages) obtained an R/C ratio value of 2.20. This means that each expenditure costs IDR 1.00 then you will get an income of IDR 2,20. With the results of the feasibility value obtained from rainfed lowland rice farming in Barru District (Sape'e and Coppo Villages) and Tanete Riaja District (Lompo Tengah and Lempang Villages) Barru Regency, it is feasible to cultivate. The income from rainfed lowland rice farming in Tanete Riaja District (Lompo Tengah and Lempang Villages) is greater than Barru District (Sape'e and Coppo Villages) Barru Regency. Tanete Riaja Subdistrict (Lompo Tengah and Lempang Villages) has greater eligibility than Barru District (Sape'e and Coppo Villages).
