Abstract

Rice farming is a business that has many risks, and production risks cause fluctuations in production. Productivity influences farming income and profitability. An increase and decrease in production will affect revenue or profitability. The purpose of this study is to analyze the technical efficiency, production risk, and profitability of rainfed lowland rice farming. This research was conducted in two regencies in South Sulawesi Province, namely Maros Regency and Pangkajene Islands Regency. The sample of this study was 100 farmers in rainfed rice fields. This research used quantitative methods with a survey approach. Data were collected using observation, recording, and interview instruments, and were then analyzed using quantitative description coupled with a t-test for independent samples. The results showed that rainfed lowland rice farming in Maros Regency and Pangkajene and Archipelago Regency was technically efficient. Rainfed lowland rice farming in Maros Regency and Pangkajene Regency and Islands is at risk.  Rainfed lowland rice farming in Maros Regency and Pangkajene Regency and the islands using profitability analysis generates income and profit, and is feasible to cultivate. Farmers need to use production inputs as recommended to increase production reduce production risk and efficiently use inputs.JEL Classification D10; Q00; Q12

Abstract

Farmers' income levels are generally influenced by components, namely: the amount of production, selling prices, and costs incurred by farmers in their agriculture. Generally, the characteristics of farming in Indonesia are narrow land, relatively small capital, limited knowledge of farmers, and less dynamic which results in low farm income. Feasibility studies need to be carried out to avoid capital that is too large for an activity that turns out to be unprofitable. The purpose of this study was to analyze the income and feasibility of rainfed rice farming in Talabagi Village, Patimpeng District, Bone Regency, South Sulawesi. The study was carried out in January - March 2023. The population of this study was rainfed rice farmers, totaling 300 families. The number of samples is 10% of the total population of 30 farmers. Farmers' samples were taken using a simple random sampling method. Data collection techniques used in this study were observation, interviews, and documentation. The types of data in this study are qualitative data and quantitative data. There are two sources of data, namely primary and secondary data. The data analysis method used in this research is descriptive quantitative. Data were analyzed by income and feasibility analysis. The results showed that the average income received by farmers in rainfed lowland rice farming in Talabagi Village, Patimpeng District, Bone Regency was Rp. 11,081,258.61/MT. Rainfed lowland rice farming carried out by farmers in Talabagi Village, Patimpeng District, Bone Regency is feasible.

Abstract

Shallots are horticulture crops that are derived from vegetable commodities that have been intensively farmed for a long period by farmers. This commodity is a source of income and job opportunities that makes a significant contribution to regional economic growth. Shallots are a profitable item to cultivate because of their high demand and requirement for consumption. The goal of this research was to determine the profitability and viability of onion cultivation in Tangru Village, Malua District, Enrekang Regency. Tangru Village, Malua District, Enrekang Regency was the site of this study. The population of this study consisted of 319 shallot farmers. In this study, the number of samples was 10% of the overall population, or 31 farmers. Simple random sampling was used to collect samples from farmers.Data collection techniques used in this study were observation, interviews, and documentation. The types of data in this study are qualitative data and quantitative data. Data sources are primary and secondary data. The data analysis method used in this research is descriptive quantitative. The results of this study indicate that the average income received by shallot farmers in Tangru Village, Malua District, Enrekang Regency is Rp. 78.482.900.00/MT. Shallot farming carried out by shallot farmers is feasible.

Abstract

The best or maximum income is achieved when the production level is optimal. Farmer income is one of the motivations for farmers to carry out their farming business. Profitability or farmer income and supported by good farming feasibility through the large ratio of income to farming costs. This research aims to analyze the comparative income, feasibility, and profitability of rainfed lowland rice farming. This research was conducted in Sape'e and Coppo Villages, Barru District, and Lompo Tengah and Lempang Villages, Tanete Riaja District, Barru Regency. The total population of the study was 367 people, while the sample of farmers who were used as respondents was 70 people. To get the number of samples a multi-stage cluster random sampling technique. Data collection techniques used are observation/observation, interviews, and documentation. Data sources in this research are primary data and secondary data. The data analysis method used is quantitative descriptive analysis and profitability with an independent sample t-test. The results showed that the income from rainfed lowland rice farming in the Tanete Riaja District was greater than that of the Barru District. Meanwhile, feasibility and profitability (Net Farm Income, Return on Investment, and Break Event Point) do not have a big difference between Barru District and Tanete Riaja District. Rice farming income in the research area still needs to be increased by reducing production input costs and the government must maintain subsidies for production inputs, especially fertilizer. With this subsidy, fertilizer use as recommended can be carried out to increase the production produced by farmers.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the added value of processed cocoa bean products in chocolate bars and powder at CV. Putra Mataram, Poolewali Mandar Regency. This research was conducted at CV. Putra Mataram, Polewali Mandar Regency in July to August 2022. The data collection techniques used in this study were observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis method used in this research is descriptive quantitative. The data were analyzed by the Hayami method. The results showed the added value obtained by CV. Putra Mataram from processing cocoa beans into chocolate bars and cocoa powder for one production, which is IDR. 527,640, with details for chocolate bars of IDR. 406,640 and cocoa powder for IDR. 121,000. The added value and benefits obtained by CV. Putra Mataram from the processing of cocoa beans is larger than chocolate bars compared to cocoa powder. Therefore chocolate bars need to be prioritized to produce larger quantities to increase profits.
