Abstract

This research aims to analyze about the students’ perception towards the teacher’s bilingual language use in an EFL classroom and to find out the benefit of it. The participants of this research were 32 students of eleventh grade in social 1 at MA Negeri Cimahi. This research employed qualitative research as research methodology and the descriptive research as research design to analyze the data. The instruments that used in this research were questionnaire and interview. Based on the result of questionnaire, the researchers found that students gave positive response of 45,3% by answering “agree” and it proved that students perceived positively towards the bilingual language that is used by the teacher in the EFL classroom. While the result of interview revealed that basically students thought that the teacher’s bilingual language use can help them in learning English and make them easy to understand the material. So, it can be concluded that students perceived positively towards the languages that the teacher use in EFL classroom. The result of this research is expected teachers can be better in using the language instruction in the EFL classroom, which is it will be useful and makes students easier in the learning English process.

Abstract

This research is titled "Figurative Language Analysis In Disney Song". The background of this research is to understand the use of figurative language contained in Disney song lyrics from the films Frozen and Tangled (Rapunzel). The objectives of this research are: (1) What types of figurative language are contained in the song, (2) figurative language functions contained in the song lyrics, and (3) what implicit meanings are contained in the lyrics of the song. The method used in this research is qualitative descriptive in observation, collecting data and conclusions from the research. The results of this study indicate that there are 5 types of figurative languages used in the lyrics of the two songs including idioms, hyperbole, personification, simile and alliteration.

Abstract

Teaching English is not an easy one. Furthermore, writing is still considered difficult because the teacher focuses on the National Examination. In order to make writing a subject as an interesting thing, the teacher should have a creative method. in this article, the writer wants to deliver the importance of media to the English teachers in Subang, to make them aware that there are still many things to do to make the subject easier. And it is only needed simple things such as paper or newspaper. The interview is also held to know the response of the teachers. And the results show that the teachers are enthusiastic and realize that they can do simple things to improve their way of teaching English, especially writing.

Abstract

This study aims to describe students' responses toward the implementation of Mindomo in writing description text at seventh-grade students in Cimahi. This study used descriptive qualitative methods. The participant of the study is 33 students’ junior high school in Cimahi. The result of this study showed that the implementation of Mindomo in teaching writing descriptive text gave positive responses to  81,80%. This positive response was shown with the enthusiasm of students during the learning process. Aspects of attention get the largest average score of around 24.54, which shows students are more interested in the learning process of writing using the Mindomo application. Besides, the aspect of confidence and satisfaction get the lowest score 12, it can be seen that the students are lack of confidence and have a fear of writing.

Abstract

Writing is an important skill for students because it helps them in their life but sometime they have difficulties when they start to writing. Therefore, the teacher must be able to find and use the right strategies for teaching writing activity especially choosing teaching media. One of the media that can be used in teaching writing is comic strips. The objective of this research is to find out whether there is an influence of using comic strips media to improve writing skill in the tenth grade students. This research employed pre-experimental design and used test questions as the instrument. The sample was the tenth grade students in one of SMKN in Cianjur, consisting of 36 students. The research compared the mean of the pre-test and post-test to identify the influence of comic strips media in improving writing skill.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menginvestigasi perspektif seorang guru pamong terhadap kompetensi mahasiswa yang telah melaksanakan PPL (Praktik Pengalaman Lapangan) pada sekolah menengah pertama di Cimahi. Hal ini dilakukan karena guru pamong sebagai subyek penelitian adalah pengguna sekaligus penilai kompetensi mahasiswa (dikaitkan dengan kompetensi guru), dalam memenuhi satu prasyarat mata kuliah yaitu PPL. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan wawancara sebagai instrumen. Data yang diperoleh kemudian dianalisa dan didapatkan hasil yang menunjukkan bila kemampuan mahasiswa PPL masih sangat harus ditingkatkan dalam beberapa hal khususnya yang berkaitan dengan kompetensi kepribadian. Hal ini perlu diatasi dengan memberikan penekanan khusus dari kampus agar mereka mampu berpikir kritis dan membantu memberikan solusi terhadap berbagai permasalahan di sekolah khususnya yang berkaitan dengan peserta didik.

Abstract

The objectives of this study are to find out the use of five types of deixis on Disney’s song. The researcher chooses three songs, there are A Whole New World as a soundtrack of Alladin, Let it Go as a soundtrack of Frozen film and I See the Light as a soundtrack of Tangled. This paper used the qualitative method. The researcher used data collected by listening to the songs and reading the lyrics, then she looked for the script of the lyrics of Disney songs on the internet then analyzed them. After collecting the data, she analyzed the result of this research that not all songs of Disney used five types of deixis. There are personal social, place, time, and discourse deixis. From three songs she just found two songs that used all of the types of deixis. There are in the song A Whole New World and Let it Go. In A Whole New World, there were found 39 words of deixis. In the song Let it Go it is found 42 words of deixis. And in the song, I See The Light there are 55 words of deixis. So, it can be concluded that the most dominant deixis in Disney’s song is in the lyrics of the song I See The Light as a soundtrack of Tangled. The result of this research shows that the most dominant of types deixis in Disney’s song is person deixis.

Abstract

Di era yang ditandai dengan kemajuan pesat dalam teknologi informasi dan komunikasi, integrasi kecerdasan buatan (Artificial Inteligence) ke dalam pendidikan menjadi semakin signifikan. Berbagai aktivitas pun dilakukan untuk semakin memperkenalkan peran AI ini kepada masyarakat khususnya di dunia pendidikan. Pengabdian nasyarakat kali ini bermaksud untuk mengeksplorasi peran AI dan metodologi pembelajaran deep learning dalam meningkatkan keterampilan literasi siswa, terutama dalam konteks pendidikan abad ke-21. Inisiatif yang dilakukan oleh Tim Pengabdian Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris di IKIP Siliwangi ini bertujuan untuk mengatasi kesenjangan literasi digital dan pemahaman AI di kalangan siswa SMAN 2 Padalarang melalui implementasi metode pembelajaran deep learning. Program ini melibatkan kegiatan pelayanan masyarakat terstruktur melalui penyuluhan yang meliputi paparan, sesi interaktif, dan evaluasi. Temuan utama menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman peserta tentang konsep AI, pembelajaran deep learning, dan pentingnya literasi digital. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa 75% peserta menunjukkan pemahaman yang kuat tentang materi yang disajikan yang menyoroti efektivitas integrasi teknologi dalam praktik pendidikan. Lebih lanjut, kegiatan ini menekankan perlunya para pendidik dan siswa beradaptasi dengan kemajuan teknologi, menumbuhkan pemikiran kritis dan pemanfaatan informasi yang efektif. Kesimpulan dari kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini menggarisbawahi potensi pemanfaatan AI untuk meningkatkan pengalaman belajar pribadi sekaligus mengatasi tantangan yang ditimbulkan di era digital, yang pada akhirnya diharapkan dapat berkontribusi pada pengembangan generasi yang lebih kompeten dan kompetitif
