Abstract

Fresh onboard water is required to fulfill the crew's living needs and support the ship's operations. The need for fresh water for the crew and operational support of the boat is fulfilled with fresh water purchased from the land. Water purchases can be made when the ship is in port, either when the ship is at the dock or when the boat is anchored. Additional fresh water supply can be obtained continuously while the ship is sailing. Seawater desalination is a solution to produce fresh water to fulfill the new water needs. Desalination using a freshwater generator (FWG) involves evaporation and condensation processes affected by vacuum and operating temperature. This study was conducted to determine the effect of changes in pressure and temperature parameters on the production capacity of the freshwater generator. The study was conducted using a case study method through observation, and experimentation on board MT.PM REGENT. The vacuum in the FWG chamber was varied based on the suction of the vacuum ejector. Hot water temperature as a heater in the evaporator is taken from the cooling jacket of the main engine. The result of the pump ejector pressure variation greatly affects the vacuum level of the distillation chamber At pump ejector pressures between 8 – 16 Bar, the vacuum rate can reach 99 – 100% after the pump is operated At pressures of 2 and 4 Bar, the vacuum level drops dramatically, reaching only 50 and 80 %, respectively. The lowest production of FWG when operated with 80% vacuum with a heating temperature of 75 OC is 2767 liters/day. In FWG operation with a maximum vacuum of 100% and a heating temperature of 85 OC, it is able to produce the most fresh water around 6879 liters/day. Based on the changes in parameters, it can be concluded that a decrease in the level of vacuum and heater temperature reduces the production of fresh water from the Fresh Water Generator.

Abstract

The Community Service was carried out in Beji Village, East Ungaran District, which consisted of 13 RW 51 densely populated RT. Most of participant work in the private and government sectors. Some of entrepreneurs are held fish farming which are managed by the community as an additional necessity for life. To sum up, the implementation of Community Service in Beji village, sub-district East Ungaran can be concluded as follows: Community service activities in Beji Village, East Ungaran District, Semarang Regency run well so that participants gained knowledge which can be implemented. Participants were given an explanation on how to make good Biofloc pond fish food and providing tarpaulins to partners as a form of concern for developing biofloc ponds.

Abstract

This community service activity is an assistance that is packaged in the form of counselling. The activity focused on sharing experiences with residents of Kesongo Village, Tuntang District, Semarang Regency. The activity was held at the Kesongo Village Hall with the object of the community who are members of the catfish farming group. Participants who participated in this programme were initially targeted at 50 people from residents who have been involved in or have not been in the catfish farming business. There were about 35 participants or about 70% of the planned participants. The socialisation of this catfish farming mentoring training needs to be conveyed to the community at large. The more people who are involved in catfish cultivation, the more they will understand the importance of having a side business. In addition to the technical material presented related to catfish cultivation, business governance in the form of community-based groups and cooperatives was also delivered. Suggestions that can be given for this activity include that Kesongo Village residents continue to maintain a positive business climate in the catfish farming group.  The abundant freshwater around Rawa Pening should be further enhanced. The more successful small home-based businesses will further improve the welfare of the community.

Abstract

The research method used was a qualitative experiment, starting with taking broken piston rings No. 2 and 3, cutting the piston rings and testing them with hardness tests and composition tests carried out at the Indonesian State Maritime Polytechnic and Undip Central Java Integrated Lab. From the results of this research, it can be concluded that the used broken ring number 3 has the highest hardness of 140.26 HB and the used ring number 2 is 131.50 HB, so it can be concluded that the piston ring that has been used and exposed to high heat causes an increase in hardness and causes it to break. The composition test results showed that the carbon content of the new ring no. 2 was the highest at 15.30% and that in the used ring no. 2 was 12.08% because the compression ring was in direct contact with the compression chamber or in contact with heat. For the used number 3 piston ring, the carbon content is 10.43 and the new one is 11.02 because it is positioned below the compression ring and is not in direct contact with heat. for the used ring no.2, the Silicon (Si) content is low, namely 2.15% compared to the new one, 2.75% because the nature of Silicium is that it is resistant to high temperatures and as a compression ring compared to ring no.3, fracture occurs because there are no Manganese or Phosphate elements. which is wear resistant, strong and elastic. The microstructure of piston ring No. 2 is broken and the new two piston rings are less dense and have rough gaps. The broken piston ring structure of No. 3 and the new one looks a bit gray and has high levels of graphite iron and carbon elements.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengolah musikalitas yang ada pada kesenian srandul yang dimana menggambarkan tokoh  Si Dadungawuk melalui sebuah gadangan yang diwujudkan melalui karya komposisi karawitan “Gadul Duluk”. Untuk itu, guna dapat mewujudkannya maka dalam mengolah musikalitas tersebut,menggunakan medium tradisi dan ideom baru. Selain itu, dalam penelitiannya menggunakan metode Practice as Research through Performance (Praktik sebagai penelitian dalam pertunjukan) dan menggunakan pendekatan studi kasus. Kemudian, tahapan perwujudan karya komposisi karawitan yang terbagi dalam pra garap (observasi, studi pustaka, analisis sumber terkait, wawancara, diskografi, konteks musikal), garap (instrumen musikal, tafsir garap, presentasi musikal), dan pasca garap. Proses penggambaran sebuah tokoh si DadungAwuk dapat diwujudkan melalui musikalitas yang ada pada kesenian srandul yaitu gadangan. Gadangan merupakan sebuah parikan jawa atau pantun jawa yang memiliki fungsi untuk menggambarkan, menjelaskan, mengatur dalam sebuah sajian kesenian srandul tersebut. Ada 3 jenis gadangan yang khas dan hanya ditemui pada kesenian srandul. Adapun informasi tersebut diperoleh dari hasil wawancara, serta dengan melihat langsung kesenian srandul ketika dipentaskan. Adapun manfaat dari proses penelitian ini adalah memperkenalkan sebuah kesenian tradisional kepada khalayak umum yang ada disekitar penulis. Hasilnya, proses penggambaran tokoh Si DadungAwuk dapat dilakukan melalui gadangan-gadangan yang kemudian diolah kembali sesuai dengan kebutuhan menggunakan  pendekatan konsep garap yaitu prabot garap (teknik, pola, irama, laras, pathet, konversi, dan dinamik). SRANDUL'S MUSICUALITY AS A GADUL DULUK KARAWITAN COMPOSITION IDEASThe purpose of this research is to process the existing musicality in srandul art which describes the character of Si Dadungawuk through a gadangan that is realized through the musical composition work "Gadul Duluk". For this reason, in order to realize it, in processing the musicality, using the medium of tradition and new ideas. In addition, the research uses the Practice as Research through Performance method and uses a case study approach. Then, the stages of realization of the musical composition work are divided into pre-work (observation, literature study, analysis of related sources, interviews, discography, musical context), work (musical instruments, interpretation of work, musical presentation), and post-work. The process of depicting a character of DadungAwuk can be realized through the musicality in srandul art, namely gadangan. Gadangan is a Javanese parikan or Javanese rhyme that has a function to describe, explain, and organize in a srandul art performance. There are 3 types of gadangan that are unique and only found in srandul art. The information was obtained from interviews, as well as by seeing srandul art directly when it was performed. The benefit of this research process is to introduce a traditional art to the general public around the author. As a result, the process of depicting the character of Si DadungAwuk can be done through gadangan-gadan.
