Abstract

The use of mini boilers in SMEs is one strategy to improve the efficiency of energy use. This is based on the results of previous work. The use of 3-phase fire tube mini boiler type in tofu SMEs with gas fuel or wood pellets can increase the efficiency of fuel energy use for cooking to about 14.03%–25.58%, save time to about 50%–53%, and save fuel costs for cooking by 44%–45%, compared to cooking tofu using a gas stove. This study was conducted to analyze the performance of 3-phase fire tube mini boiler type with wood pellets or coconut shells as fuel. The testing of mini boilers was conducted related to the capacity/ quantity and quality of steam produced, the energy efficiency of the mini boiler, and the specific costs of steam production (IDR fuel / kJ steam produced) in each type of fuel. The results showed that this mini boiler had a higher value of steam production capacity, steam temperature, steam pressure, and energy efficiency, and specific costs of steam production by using wood pellets as fuel. It also means that using coconut shells as fuel was cheaper, but it gave a lower performance.

Abstract

Cocoa waste can still be used as something useful such as compost. The objective of this work is to make an organic waste crusher machine from cocoa waste. The method was the determination of systematic crushing, functional design, draw the crusher, making a prototype of the crusher machine, and performing functional test of the crusher. The crusher machine has been designed and provided. Functional tests conducted indicate that the machine can chop cocoa waste so that it can be further processed as compost.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menganalisa kualitas bahan bakar biogas yang berasal dari kotoran burung puyuh melalui proses pemurnian biogas yang menggunakan metode adsorbsi tiga lapis. Bahan yang digunakan untuk penyerapan adalah silika gel sebesar 2000 gram - 2058 gram,  serutan besi sebesar 736 gram - 1092 gram dan zeolit sebesar 1946,8 gram - 1991 gram. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa ada peningkatan gas metana (CH4) sebesar 10,93 -25,38%, penurunan dalam CO2 sebesar 39,69 - 52,18%, penurunan H2S 100% dan efektivitas penyerapan air sebesar 27,35 - 50,35 gram biogas H2O / m3, peningkatan nilai kalori 8,76 - 11,12 kkal / m3.

Abstract

Applications for worm gear drives are common in industry. The crown worm drive is a new kind of inventive worm drive that has just been proposed. Nevertheless, no prior research has been done on the geometric design of crown worm gears with straight-lined blade profiles. On the other hand, designing the cutting tool depends on the geometric design of the workpiece surface modeling. As a result, this study proposed a geometric design for the straight-lined blade shape of the crown worm gear. Numerical examples are used to evaluate the accuracy and applicability of the suggested mathematical model. Furthermore, the modeling of a variable center-distance crown worm gear is completed. It is also feasible to model the crown worm gear using different tool profiles, such as concave and convex profiles.

Abstract

Indonesia merupakan salah satu negara dengan konsumsi mi instan terbesar. Permintaan impor gandum meningkat seiring dengan meningkatnya konsumsi mi berbahan tepung terigu. Tepung sagu direkomendasikan untuk digunakan sebagai bahan baku mi. Kandungan gizi ikan dapat meningkatkan nilai gizi produk mi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan konsentrasi tepung ikan cakalang yang optimal untuk mi kering berbahan tepung sagu berdasarkan karakteristik kecerahan dan kesukaan konsumen. Mi kering berbahan dasar sagu terdiri dari lima perlakuan, yaitu kontrol, tepung ikan cakalang 2, 4, 6, dan 8%. Parameter yang dianalisis meliputi lightness dan organoleptik. Perlakuan terbaik kemudian dianalisis kadar protein, abu, dan mikrostruktur. Penambahan tepung ikan cakalang memberikan pengaruh yang nyata (p<0,05) terhadap parameter lightness, aroma, dan keseluruhan. Lightness, aroma, dan nilai keseluruhan mi tepung ikan cakalang 8% lebih baik dibandingkan dengan kontrol dan perlakuan lainnya. Mi kering dengan penambahan tepung ikan cakalang 8% memiliki aroma harum, warna agak kurang bening, rasa mi enak, dan tekstur mendekati kenyal sehingga masih dapat diterima panelis. Perlakuan mi dengan penambahan tepung ikan cakalang 8% menghasilkan kadar protein tinggi, yaitu 5,56% (bk) dan kadar abu 1,12% (bk). Mi dengan penambahan tepung ikan cakalang 8% memiliki butiran elips agak terpotong, sedangkan mi gandum memiliki butiran elips.
