Abstract

Delays in high-rise building projects negatively affect cost, quality, and schedule performance. This study aims to identify the main risk barriers and formulate appropriate mitigation strategies using a fuzzy logic approach. Data were collected from 80 valid respondents occupying strategic and operational roles in construction projects in Surabaya. Linguistic assessments (Low, Medium, High) were converted into Triangular Fuzzy Numbers and defuzzified using the centroid method to obtain crisp severity scores. The results indicate that cost overruns due to design revisions by the project owner (D4) represent the most critical risk barrier, with a defuzzification score of 3.717 (high category), followed by ineffective project control (E1) with a score of 3.483 (upper-medium category). The severity gap between D4 and the overall average of other indicators (≈3.30) shows a dominant external risk influence of approximately 0.40 points on the 1–5 fuzzy scale. Mitigation preferences reveal that risk avoidance is the dominant strategy for D4 (34 respondents), emphasizing design finalization before construction, while risk reduction is dominant for E1 (37 respondents), highlighting intensive monitoring and routine progress evaluation. Practically, prioritizing risks above the 3.50 threshold provides a structured basis for focusing managerial attention on the most critical delay drivers. Theoretically, this study demonstrates that fuzzy logic enhances decision accuracy by transforming subjective expert judgments into measurable and ranked risk severity values for high-rise construction projects.

Abstract

High-rise building construction projects have a high risk of occupational accidents, particularly for field workers. Therefore, the implementation of a well-planned Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Management System supported by adequate safety facilities is essential. This study aims to analyze the implementation of OSH in the construction project of the XYZ building structure in Surabaya and to identify the dominant influencing factors. The method used is a quantitative approach through questionnaires, with respondents consisting of project staff from contractors and supervising consultants. Data analysis includes validity testing, reliability testing, normality testing, F-test (simultaneous), and T-test (partial). The results show that the factors influencing OSH implementation consist of OSH knowledge (8.97%), OSH management (52.99%), OSH attitudes and behavior (10%), and working conditions and environment (28.04%). The most dominant factor is OSH management, with a percentage of 52.99%.

Abstract

Construction projects are characterized by high complexity and constraints in time, cost, and resources, requiring efficient construction methods. One of the emerging methods is precast concrete. This study aims to identify the factors influencing the implementation of precast methods in construction projects in Surabaya. A quantitative approach was used, with data collected through questionnaires distributed to 50 respondents consisting of contractors and project management personnel. Data analysis was conducted using Partial Least Square (PLS). The results indicate that all indicators have outer loading values > 0.7, AVE > 0.5, and Composite Reliability > 0.7, confirming that the constructs are valid and reliable. The main factors influencing precast implementation include technical, managerial, and human resource aspects, with coordination among project stakeholders identified as the most dominant factor. The findings of this study are expected to support decision-making in selecting more effective construction methods.

Abstract

Contract termination in construction projects is a critical issue that can significantly affect project time and cost performance. This study aims to identify the dominant factors causing contract termination and analyze their impact on construction project performance in e-tendering-based projects in Surabaya. A quantitative approach was applied using questionnaire data collected from 46 respondents, including contractors, consultants, and project personnel. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and simple linear regression. The results indicate that delay in work progress is the most dominant factor, and contract termination has a strong influence on project time and cost, with a correlation value of 0.881. Therefore, improving project control and enhancing human resource competence are essential to minimize the risk of contract termination.

Abstract

Kates – Gedangrowo Highway located in Prambon District, Sidoarjo Regency is a local road type 2/2 UD with a length of 3.4 km and a width of 8 meters. This road experiences various types of damage such as crocodile cracks, potholes, patches, obesity, sinkholes, cracks on the edge, grain detachment, and longitudinal cracks. The purpose of this study is to identify the type of damage by analyzing the condition of the pavement using the PCI. From the results of the field survey on 34 segments, 10 types of damage were detected with the results of the study showing that there were 255 points of damage with the dominant type of Alligator Cracking of 27.06%, Potholes of 27.06%, and Patching of 20.78%. The average PCI value of the entire road section is 49.8 which is included in the Fair category. However, 12 segments (1,200 meters) were found to be in Failed and Very Poor condition, requiring immediate priority treatment. Treatment recommendations vary, including total reconstruction, rehabilitation with overlays, periodic maintenance, and routine maintenance tailored to the conditions of each segment, using the method as the basis for calculating the Cost Budget Plan.
