Abstract

Increased income of Indonesia in the form of foreign exchange one of them is because of tourism. The second tourism destination in Indonesia after Bali that attracts the attention of foreign tourists and local tourists is Yogyakarta. The attraction of this city is the legacy of nature and cultural tourism that continues to be maintained values ​​and traditions, because it is the largest capital of the development of tourism in the city. Along with the city of Yogyakarta is being clean up to realize itself as a tourist destination in Indonesia, it is worth noting some very basic things one of which is a system of tourism signs that exist today. Not apart from the nickname of the city of Jogjakarta as a cultural center, it is inevitable that cultural knowledge increasingly faded and forgotten. Therefore it must be preserved from simple-looking things but provide informative travel information. the tourism sign system which is part of the traffic sign system sub-section needs to be improved. The tourism sign system is one form of information that is short and clear which involves many disciplines. With the approach of various disciplines are expected to apply and its use can be maximally and do not forget the elements of local culture. The results of the test show good response from some related parties as suggestions and enter for infrastructure improvement in Yogyakarta.

Abstract

Manuk nom, one of the typical Karaton Yogyakarta desserts that has historical value that cannot be separated from the influence of acculturation of Javanese-Dutch culture. Nom manuk is made of green sticky rice tape and the egg is equipped with two melinjo chips placed on top of it resembling bird wings. During Sultan HB VII’s reign, Yogyakarta experienced a period of transition to modernity. During this period the life of the Yogyakarta Palace received elements of modern education, modern minds, ideas, enthusiasm, ideology and western culture. The purpose of this paper is to find out the history of the development of Javanese-Dutch acculturation in the form of culinary in the era of Sultan HB VII-VIII’s administration. The research method used is qualitative by means of collecting data in the form of observation, interviews, literature data and documentation. This study uses the acculturation theory of cultural approaches to history. The implication of Manuk Nom, which is a favorite food of the Sultanate of Yogyakarta Sultanate, is a reflection of Javanese people’s pride in the culinary results of Javanese-Dutch acculturation as a reflection of national identity.

Abstract

The second Javanese succession war began after Pakubuwono I and the Company won the first Javanese succession war. Jayengrana struggling together with the descendants of the Sultan of Mataram succeeded in making Pakubuwono I. anxious. The second Javanese succession war illustrated the spirit of the struggle of the son of Untung Surapati in fighting for truth and justice. The two problems discussed in this article are to make objective reconstruction of the past. Second, how the influence of Islam on  the kingdoms in Java. The  author collects  and enforces facts to get a conclusion in a scary show. The study method includes qualitative analysis, the historical approach of Karl Marx, and F. Engels's perspective in understanding history as a past event.

Abstract

Tamanan Ward is a relic building of the Majapahit kingdom era located in the Keraton Yogyakarta area. The existence of Tamanan Ward is supported by physical evidence, such as the sengkalan in the form of Bethara Gana or Ganesha found at the entrance of the ward and resembles Kori Agung. The Tamanan Ward building is historical evidence of cultural acculturation and depiction of royal heritage from time to time as shown by its ornaments. The ornaments in this building include: Praban motif ornaments and Putri Merong motif ornaments which are referred to as prohibited ornaments (awisan). The awisan ornament is a manifestation of the Sultan's power to organize and build palace buildings that have a broad philosophical meaning. Based on this, the two ornaments that decorate the palace buildings have aesthetic and semiotic functions as a marker. This research aims to explain the meaning and philosophy attached to awisan ornaments in Tamanan Ward through a semiotic approach. The research method used was descriptive qualitative method with data collection technique in the form of literature study through relevant books and journals. The results of this study indicated that, first, the building ornaments of Tamanan Ward were influenced by the visual identity that was present due to the power of the Sultan as King, Second, the analysis of the meaning and function of awisan ornaments can be described using a semiotic approach. Third, the Keraton Yogyakarta building is one of Indonesia's cultural assets and its existence needs to be maintained and preserved.

Abstract

Yogyakarta disebut sebagai miniatur Indonesia, memiliki cerita historis yang panjang sejak dibangunnya bangunan Keraton Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat (Keraton Yogyakarta) dua setengah abad lalu. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengkaji dan menjelaskan tentang bagaimana mengkomunikasikan pesan visual multikultural yang disampaikan melalui ornamen pada Bangsal Kencana, Keraton Yogyakarta. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif deskriptif dengan pendekatan sejarah dan budaya. Teknik pengumpulan data yang dilakukan melalui metode wawancara, observasi (pengamatan), dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan atau verifikasi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa, pertama, ornamen bangunan Bangsal Kencana dipengaruhi oleh identitas visual yang hadir karena relasi kuasa Sultan sebagai Raja. Kedua, sudut pandang makna pada setiap ornamen dipengaruhi karena perbedaan keberagaman budaya yang hadir. Ketiga, kehadiran ornamen tidak terlepas dari kondisi sosial budaya pada masanya. Saran terhadap penelitian ini adalah (1) Perlu adanya regenerasi pengetahuan dalam menggambarkan komunikasi visual multikultural melalui ornamen, (2) Upaya bersama agar bukti sejarah dalam bentuk naskah, dokumen dan manuskrip yang tersimpan di berbagai perpustakaan dapat kembali ke Indonesia.

Abstract

Identity is a personality that shapes distinguishing traits of the subjects. Multicultural Indonesians have their own cultural value as their identity. Indonesian cultural diversity has been rooted deep down and has become a foundation in the life of its society. Indonesian cultural art is classified into 5 categories, which are dance, music, theatre, visual art, and literature. The purposes of this research are: 1. Develops the value of Indonesian cultural identity, 2. Provides the space of intertwined culture and identity through interdisciplinary approach, 3. Integrating Indonesia cultural arts as a national identity which would unite our country. Descriptive quantitative method is used to elaborate the fundamental elements of visual identity design with the literature-based data collecting techniques. Data will be processed with visual communication theories and interdisciplinary approach in order to attain the concept of Indonesian cultural studio identity designs. The designs are adopted from artistic daily activities which have contributed to preserving Indonesian culture, collaborated with nationalism characteristics.

Abstract

Upacara Yadnya Kasada merupakan tradisi budaya suku Tengger di Jawa Timur yang memiliki nilai historis dan religius yang penting, namun kurang dikenal oleh kalangan muda khususnya gen Z. Salah satu penyebabnya yaitu kurangnya media informasi dan media promosi tentang budaya ini, sehingga penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memanfaatkan media digital sebagai media promosi upacara yadnya kasada dalam rangka melestarikan kebudayaan Indonesia melalui video motion graphic. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif untuk menggambarkan secara sistematis dan faktual mengenai upaya perancangan motion graphic dan efektivitas media promosi dalam menarik perhatian Gen Z terhadap tradisi budaya Upacara Yadnya Kasada. Metode perancangan karya mengacu pada teori ilustrasi, teori animasi, teori motion graphic, teori desain, serta strategi kreatif yang akan diaplikasikan ke beberapa media promosi Above The Line (ATL) dan Below The Line (BTL). Hasil penelitian diharapkan dapat menunjukkan bahwa media motion graphic yang dipadukan dengan penggunaan platform media sosial seperti Instagram efektif dalam meningkatkan kesadaran dan apresiasi budaya di kalangan generasi muda.
