Abstract

This article discusses the impact of new media on the dissemination of religious ideology, particularly in Indonesia, where the process of spreading Islam has traditionally been carried out through face-to-face meetings between students and teachers. With the rise of the internet, however, the transfer of religious knowledge has shifted to digital spaces such as websites, social media, and other online platforms. This has led to a proliferation of religious content and a blurring of the religious expert authorities, some of which may hold extremist and intolerant views. The objective of the study is to examine the major role of the pesantren educational tradition as the basis for strengthening religious moderation in the post-truth era. In the post-truth era, there are shifting models of Islamic da’wah which was originally at the practical level to the media level, as well as the rise of phenomenon where the objective facts do not influence public opinion. The researcher used a qualitative approach to identify the role and implications of the sanad tradition on the high index of potential for radicalism by internet users. Qualitative work steps such as observation, documentation, and literature study techniques were used by the author in this research. The researchers identified that Islamic boarding schools in their history are closely related to the scientific sanad tradition which can be a counter to extremist religious content in social media. The scientific sanad tradition in Islamic boarding schools has argumentatively not easily believed in religious doctrines without going through direct contact with spiritual teachers. The principle of continuous scientific sanad tradition between teachers and students, as well as direct scientific transformation, is important amid the acceptance of religious narratives circulating on social media regardless of their source and legitimacy.

Abstract

Developing interactive and contextual learning media is crucial in enhancing 21st-century skills, particularly creative thinking. However, the facts show that many students still have difficulty developing these skills, especially in science learning, which is often considered abstract and complex. This study aims to develop and analyze the effectiveness of the Etno-STEM E-Module, which integrates science concepts with local culture through Situbondo batik to enhance students’ creative thinking skills. This research employs the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) development model. Effectiveness was measured using pre-test and post-test results analyzed with the N-Gain Score. The trial was conducted on seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 2 Panji, Situbondo. The results indicate that the e-module has a very high level of validity, with an average score of 92%, is considered practical with a score of 95,2%, and is effective in improving students’ creative thinking skills, achieving an N-Gain score of 0.63 in the medium category. The implications of this research suggest that integrating local culture into STEM-based learning can be an innovative solution to enhance students’ creative thinking skills. Therefore, this e-module has the potential to be applied in science education across various educational contexts.

Abstract

This article focuses on the word hijrah in Q.S. al-Nisāʾ: 100. It is an important topic following the rise of the hijrahmovement along with all its religious attitudes. This development led to a semantical shift of the word hijrah, from originally referring to the historical movement of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in 622 AD to a kindlifestyletyle marked with symbolic and exclusive religiousness. To this end, the study used the Maʿna cum Maghza method of interpretation. This article argues the followings: First, the current hijrah trend with all its dynamics undergoes a shift in meaning so that it is closer to symbolic religiosity. Second, the historical-phenomenal significance of QS. al-Nisāʾ: 100 is that the hijrah movement in Indonesia should be seen within a proportional context of its historical, ideological and cultural basis, especially for the context of Indonesia which has a diversity of tribes, races and religions. Third, the trend of hijrah with its exclusive religious attitude slowly but surely must be addressed by advocating pluralism values. Thus, inclusiveness and openness are needed as the main foundation in building a plural and religious moderation.

Abstract

The low level of students’ collaboration skills in science learning remains a common issue in schools, particularly during group discussions that do not actively engage all students. This condition highlights the need for a learning model capable of creating an active, interactive, and collaborative learning environment in line with the demands of 21st-century  skills. This study aimed to improve students’ collaboration skills through the implementation of the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) learning model in the topic of Earth and the Solar System. The study employed a Classroom Action Research method based on the Kemmis and McTaggart model, conducted in two cycles consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. The research subjects were 32 students of class VII C at SMP Negeri 11 Jember. Data were collected through observation, peer assessment, and field notes. The data were analyzed using descriptive comparative analysis by comparing the results of each cycle. The findings showed that the implementation of the TGT model improved students’ collaboration skills across all indicators, namely active participation, responsibility, flexibility and compromise, and mutual respect among group members. The average percentage of collaboration skills increased from 66.7% in Cycle I to 87.7% in Cycle II. Learning activities involving group discussions, academic games, and tournaments encouraged students to interact more actively, collaborate effectively, and contribute within their groups. Therefore, the TGT learning model is effective in improving students’ collaboration skills in science learning and supports the development of 21st-century competencies.
