Abstract

This research aims to examine the effect of using hypermedia on student learning outcomes in the 2015-2025 timeframe. The background of this study is the low student learning outcomes due to the use of conventional learning methods with minimal media variations. This study was conducted through a systematic literature review using the PRISMA approach, which includes a process of identification, screening, eligibility and inclusion from five scientific databases. Of the 81 articles reviewed, 10 were selected as the main focus of analysis. The results showed that the use of hypermedia can significantly improve student learning outcomes, both cognitively and affectively. Hypermedia is effective in supporting diverse learning styles, simplifying complex material, and increasing student engagement and motivation. It also acts as an instructional and evaluative instrument in both online and offline learning. However, the effectiveness of hypermedia is highly dependent on teacher readiness, media design and infrastructure availability. The conclusion of this study confirms that hypermedia is a potential pedagogical tool to improve student learning outcomes, the quality of active, contextual and student-centered learning, and has great potential in the transformation of 21st century education.

Abstract

Indonesia is characterized by a pluralistic society, encompassing a wide range of ethnicities and religions. Effectively managing this diversity is essential for fostering harmony and minimizing conflicts. One of the principal mechanisms for achieving this is through education. This study investigates the management of multi-ethnic students at SMA Masehi 2 PSAK Semarang, focusing on social interactions and conflict resolution. Employing a qualitative phenomenological approach, the research explores the integration of multicultural education across intra-curricular, co-curricular, and extracurricular activities, as well as students' interpretations of multicultural values. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation, and analyzed utilizing Herbert Blumer's Symbolic Interactionism Theory. The findings indicate that educational institutions play a pivotal role in facilitating the understanding and appreciation of diversity by promoting positive interactions and respect for cultural differences among students. Furthermore, schools actively endeavor to prevent and manage conflicts, thereby minimizing discord. The originality of this research lies in its exploration of structured multicultural education within schools, contributing to both social harmony and educational advancement in Indonesia. These findings offer broader implications for national education strategies aimed at fostering social cohesion.

Abstract

Social studies is a subject that consists of various social sciences such as history, sociology, geography, etc., which makes the material quite dense. Social studies learning, which consists of various disciplines, makes some of the learning materials quite dense. Learning media can be an alternative to overcome the obstacles in delivering dense material efficiently. This study aims to analyze the use of podcasts as a medium for social studies learning and to analyze the opportunities for developing podcasts at Ibu Kartini Junior High School in Semarang. The method used in this study is a descriptive method with a qualitative approach through literature study, observation, and in-depth interviews. This research was analyzed using the cognitive theory of multimedia learning (Richard E. Mayer). This study found, based on a literature review, that podcasts are effective and efficient when used as a learning medium for social studies. Podcasts have the advantages of ease of access, transmission, and development of themes or materials that are relevant to the subject matter, interests, and characteristics of students. The social studies learning media used by teachers still have weaknesses, so they need to utilize or develop media that facilitate students in building initial understanding and reviewing dense social studies material flexibly. Teachers have the interest and motivation to utilize or develop podcast-based social studies learning media that are the original work of teachers and students who support the plan.
