Abstract

Anxiety is one of the mental disorders often experienced by medical students due to high academic pressure. Factors that influence anxiety include biological, psychological, and social aspects. This study aims to determine the relationship between gender and anxiety levels in medical students. The method used is a literature review with a total sampling technique, in which four selected journals from the period 2015–2025 were analyzed. The results showed that female students have higher levels of anxiety compared to male students. This is due to several factors, such as hormonal differences, where estrogen plays a role in the regulation of serotonin which affects anxiety, and differences in emotional responses, where women are more likely to use emotion-based coping strategies. In addition, greater social pressure on women also contributes to their high levels of anxiety. The impact of high anxiety on students can affect academic achievement, concentration, and overall mental health. Therefore, it is important for educational institutions to provide psychological support and effective stress management programs to help students, especially women, manage anxiety. With the right intervention, it is hoped that medical students can be better prepared to face academic and professional challenges without experiencing significant psychological disorders.

Abstract

As the world's largest palm oil producer, Indonesia bears a significant responsibility for the well-being of its farmers, including mental health aspects, which remain a pressing issue. Farmers face various occupational pressures that have the potential to trigger psychological disorders, particularly anxiety. Poorly managed anxiety can lead to decreased concentration and productivity. This study aims to describe the anxiety levels experienced by palm oil farmers in Simpang Pematang District, Mesuji Regency, Lampung. A cross-sectional design was employed in this study, utilizing purposive sampling for sample selection. A total of 109 palm oil farmers participated as respondents, and the collected data were analyzed using frequency distribution. The results indicate that 14.7% of farmers exhibited symptoms of anxiety, with 11.9% experiencing mild anxiety and 2.8% experiencing moderate anxiety. No cases of severe anxiety were found among the respondents. Although the overall anxiety level identified in this study was lower than in previous research, it remains a matter of concern. These findings highlight the necessity of continuous efforts to enhance the mental well-being of farmers. Therefore, a more intensive mental health promotion program is required to improve farmers' understanding of stress management strategies. By doing so, farmers are expected to maintain their psychological well-being, ultimately contributing to increased productivity in Indonesia's palm oil agricultural sector.

Abstract

Acute respiratory tract infection (ARI) is one of the leading causes of morbidity that often requires antibiotic therapy, with Klebsiella pneumoniae being one of the most commonly found bacterial pathogens and known to have a high level of antibiotic resistance. Irrational use of antibiotics can accelerate the development of resistance, so the effectiveness of antibiotics needs to be evaluated periodically. Amoxicillin and piperacillin are commonly used antibiotics in the management of ARTI. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of amoxicillin and piperacillin against Klebsiella pneumoniae in cases of ARTI at Dr. H. Abdul Moeloek General Hospital from 2019 to 2023. This study is an observational analytical study with a cross-sectional design using secondary data in the form of culture results and antibiotic sensitivity tests from patient medical records. The sampling technique used total sampling with a total of 106 Klebsiella pneumoniae isolates. Data analysis was performed using the Chi-Square test. The results showed that the resistance rate of Klebsiella pneumoniae to amoxicillin was 92.5% with a sensitivity of 7.5%. In contrast, piperacillin showed a higher sensitivity of 58.5% although resistance was still found at 41.5%. Statistical tests showed a significant relationship between the type of antibiotic and the level of bacterial sensitivity (p-value < 0.001). The conclusion of this study indicates that piperacillin is more effective than amoxicillin in the management of ARI caused by Klebsiella pneumoniae and can be considered in the selection of empirical antibiotic therapy.
