Abstract

the concern of tradition which is often said ancient becomes an idea of various arts. Tradition that is oftenly considered to be given things, one of them is penanggalan Jawa (Javanese calender), is sometimes ignored if is observed tradition of penanggalan jawa is still very closed to the society's social lives. Some daily activities are unconsciously planned based on the Javanese calender. Traditional is many times executed ritually. Sometimes people forget to inherit its phylosophy and use. Documentary film is one of audio visual media genres used to mediate the tradition preservation ad return which is essentially becomes a great heritage. Documentary film shows the importance of critizising the myth of various tradition.Keyword : documentary film, medition, tradition

Abstract

Television, both as a phenomenon as well as a cultural agent, is framing the world by means of linguistic codes. This cultural and media studies-based research applies Stuart Hall’s theories of representation and identity by which the Barthesian’s visual semiotics approach and postcolonial perspective as analysis method are used. This research aims at (a) identifying how Indonesian culture has been visualised and narrated. The result of the research confirms several points: hybrid condition bedwen tradisional and modern, the Indonesian culture has been uttering by the narrator.Keywords: postcolonial perspective, visualisation, narative, Indonesian culture

Abstract

The learning process is an interactive activity that occurs between educators and learners, and therefore it takes a comfortable and pleasant atmosphere in living it. One effort to create such process is with the selection of models and means of learning in accordance with the character of the course and target of learning.  Scientific Writing Guidance (Bimbingan Penulisan Karya Ilmiah/BPKI) is a fourth semester course on Television and Film Study Program, Department of Recorded Media Art, Faculty of Art and Design, Indonesian Institute of the Arts at Surakarta. This classroom action research that combines Inquiry learning methods and Drilling used Facebooksocial media as a means of learning.  This was used not as a medium for disseminating face-to-face material but as a media to upload student learning outcomes. The action cycle was implemented twice. The results of this study showed an average increase in the value of learning outcomes by 40% and very high learning motivation. Keywords: Inquiry, Drilling, Facebook
