Abstract

This article discusses about the biography of Amin al-Khuli and his thought; literary interpretation of the Quran (TafsirSastrawi). He offers this method because the Quran is Arabic(?arabiyyunmubin). Therefore, the understanding of the Quran can only be revealed by using literary interpretation (tafsirsastrawi). This method has two important studies: the study of the external Quran (dirasah mahawla al-Qur?an) and the study of the internal Quran (dirasah ma fi al-Qur?an)

Abstract

The stories of the Quran are one of the interesting topics in the Quranic studies. Every story in the Qur'an contains various wisdom and lessons. One of the stories mentioned in the Quran is the story of parents and children. In this article, the author presents two stories of parents and children in the Koran, namely the story of Prophet Nuh As. and his disobedient son and the story of Prophet Ibrahim As and his son who was pious and devoted to his parents, namely Prophet Ismail As. This study uses a descriptive-analytical method. Using this Method, the author gathered Quranic verses relating to two stories and subsequently elaborated and analyzed the wisdoms on child education contained in the stories. Based on this method there are several research results: First; The story of Nuh As and his son showed us the distinct behavior of humans. Prophet Nuh As represents a father who believes and responsible on his Child’s education, while his son, Kan'an represents a child who is disbelieving and disobeying to his father. Second; The story of Prophet Ibrahim As and his son, Prophet Ismail as showed us a strong relationship between a father and his son. Prophet Ibrahim as represents a father who is faithful and responsible on his child’s education, while Prophet Ismail as represents a child who is faithful, tough and strong. Third; Some aspects of education in child care based on these two stories are faith education (the first education that must be given to children) and moral education, which is a reflection of faith education. This moral education will be achieved by three elements, namely in the form of exemplar, advice and environment.

Abstract

This article discusses the integration of hermeneutics in Quranic studies. Some Muslim scholars consider hermeneutics to be one of the partners in interpreting the Quran. One of the contemporary Muslim intellectuals who has quite influential hermeneutical ideas is Bintu Syāṭī'. The research in this paper is classified as qualitative literature research with a socio-historical approach and uses Gadamer's theory to analyze the influence of Bintu Syāṭī''s hermeneutical concept. The results of this study conclude two things, namely: first, Bintu Shāṭī''s method of interpretation in her tafsir is influenced by her education and her husband Amīn al-Khūlī so that Bintu Shāṭī''s method in interpreting the Qur'an leans towards literary studies to reveal the bayani of the Qur'an. Second, Bintu Syāṭī' is one of the Muslim hermeneutic figures who adopts the quasi-objective hermeneutic genre.

Abstract

This article examines the characteristics of oral interpretation of the Qur’an by Friday preachers at Taqwa Mosque in Langsa Aceh. The oral interpretation in Friday sermons is compelling subject for study because the preachers elucidated Qur’anic verses during their discourse. These preachers convey religious messages grounded in the hadith and Qur’anic texts, which were interpreted contextually. This study employs qualitative methodology, incorporating phenomenological and hermeneutical approaches. The collected data were analyzed using Gadamer’s hermeneutic theory and Walter J. Ong’s theory of orality. The findings of this research, grounded in these theoretical frameworks, reveal two primary results. First, the Friday preachers’ interpretations of the Qur’an are deeply influenced by their preexisting understandings. Second, the oral interpretation in their Friday sermons exibit characteristics that are additive, aggregative, redundant, conservative, closely tied to human lifeworld, agonistic, empathic-participative, homeostatic, and situational.

Abstract

The term "work" in the Qur'an is represented by several verbs, namely fa'ala, 'amala, kasaba, and ṣana'a, which generally convey the idea of performing or acting. However, these terms have yet to be comprehensively conceptualized within academic discourse. This study aims to delve into the nuanced meanings of each term within the Qur'anic context. Employing a qualitative method with a linguistic approach, this research utilizes the anti-synonymity theory popularized by the literary scholar Bintu Syāṭi'. According to this theory, each Qur'anic word has a distinct semantic emphasis, making it irreplaceable even by its closest synonym. The findings reveal that each term possesses unique semantic features, rendering them non-interchangeable within the Qur'anic text. The term fa'ala denotes actions that may be intentional or unintentional, performed by humans, animals, jinn, angels, or inanimate objects. The term 'amala refers to deliberate actions carried out by humans, jinn, or animals. The term kasaba signifies effortful work associated with gradual attainment and progression, with its subjects limited to humans. Lastly, the term ṣana'a pertains to skillful creation, involving both divine and human agents.
