Abstract

Abstract

One of the most common types of cancer in Indonesia is cervical cancer. Cervical cancer is caused by infection with the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) that grows in the cervix. Begonia willemii is a new plant in Central Sulawesi that is used as an anticancer. This study aims to determine the chemical compounds contained in the ethanol extract of Begonia willemii using LC-MS, and identify proteins that interact with the chemical compounds of Begonia willemii in the cervical cancer disease pathway, and determine the interaction between compounds contained in the ethanol extract of Begonia willemii with target proteins as cervical anticancer using the molecular docking method. This research method starts from sample preparation, then maceration extraction for three days using 96% ethanol solvent, the extract results are then analyzed using LC-MS, after which Network pharmacology is carried out to determine the target protein for cervical cancer and in molecular docking simulations with Autodock 4.2 software. The protein model was downloaded from the Protein Data Bank with the code 6GU2. The results of this study obtained a percentage yield of Begonia willemii extract of 10.52%, there was 1 compound component contained in the LC-MS results, namely 3-Chloro-4-methylaniline, and the results of Network pharmacology obtained CDK1 protein which has the highest degree value. Based on the results of molecular docking of the CDK1 protein (PDB ID: 6GU2), the affinity energy of the 3-Chloro-4-methylaniline compound was obtained at -5.4 kcal/mol and the affinity energy of Ribociclib (positive control) was -8.6 kcal/mol. The affinity energy of the natural ligand (Flavopiridol) was -9.9 kcal/mol. Based on these results, it is known that the 3-Chloro-4-methylaniline compound has an effectiveness that is not as strong as the natural ligands (Flavopiridol) and Ribociclib (positive control).

Abstract

Stunting, a growth failure issue in toddlers due to chronic malnutrition, has implications for reduced productivity and an increased risk of degenerative diseases later in life. Inadequate feeding practices and undernutrition are primary causes. To prevent stunting in Tosale Village, leveraging local resources is crucial for enhancing the nutritional quality of children. This community engagement program aimed to educate the community of Tosale Village about stunting and its prevention in at-risk infants through practical training in preparing supplementary food based on Moringa oleifera leaves, packaged as pudding. The training employed a direct practice method involving community members, particularly mothers who are members of the Supplementary Feeding Program (PMT). The core activity involved hands-on practice in making Moringa leaf pudding as an alternative supplementary food for stunting prevention, accompanied by the presentation of materials related to stunting and the benefits of Moringa oleifera. Ten mothers who were PMT cadres participated in this training. The results of the activity demonstrated an increase in participants' knowledge and skills in making Moringa leaf pudding as a nutritious supplementary food. The utilization of local resources such as Moringa oleifera through training in the preparation of varied supplementary foods warrants continued support. This activity provides an alternative for PMT cadre mothers in serving supplementary food that has the potential to prevent stunting in at-risk infants in Tosale Village. Similar training utilizing other local food ingredients is recommended to enrich the options for nutritious supplementary foods.

Abstract

Inventory of medical plants is an activity of collecting and compiling data and facts regarding natural resources for resource management planning and can be used as database to reveal potential and information as a reference for introducing plant species in the research area. This study aims to make an inventory of what plants are efficacious as drugs, and to find out their benefits based on preclinical and clinical trials. This type of research is a descriptive study using the SLR (Systematic Literature Review) method with a sample of 21 literatures. The results of the library show that there are 68 plants that are used empirically by the Kabupaten Pasangkayu community. Some of these plants have gone through preclinical and clinical trials. Plants that are efficacious as traditional medicine vary, such as antidiabetic, antihypertensive and so on empirically amounted to 68 plants which from 4 different regions that was pasangkayu 57 plants, mamuju 5 plants, dapurang 3 plants and baras 3 plants.
