Abstract

This research aims to improve students' writing skills through the use of Padlet media which is integrated with local wisdom of Bima regional literature. The background of this research is based on the low writing ability of students caused by monotonous traditional learning methods and the lack of use of interactive media. This research uses the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) development model. Local literature, such as folklore and poetry, is integrated into Padlet's platform as teaching materials to provide relevant cultural context for students. The participants in this study are 30 students of the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program at STKIP Harapan Bima. The results of the study showed a significant improvement in students' writing skills after the use of Padlet based on local wisdom. The average writing score of students increased by 25%, especially in the aspects of cohesion, coherence, and idea development. In addition, students also reported increased motivation and active involvement in writing learning through Padlet's collaborative features, such as writing sharing and feedback. However, there are several technical obstacles faced, such as limited internet access and lack of digital literacy among students. The results of this study have implications that the integration of digital technology and local wisdom can be an innovative strategy in improving students' writing skills, as well as fostering their cultural awareness.

Abstract

Background: Over time, adolescents in Indonesia are increasingly at risk of changing their lifestyles, as evidenced by the curiosity of adolescents for information that can cause the emergence of premarital sex behavior. This behavior is perilous, it may cause imminent harm, especially to adolescent girls. Based on data from the Palu City Health Office, there were 171 cases of adolescents who had premarital sex in 2018-2021. The results of the midwife interview found that five adolescents were pregnant before marriage within the Mamboro Health Center working area in 2022. Objectives: to explore predisposing factors (knowledge and attitude), supporting factors (media influence), and driving factors (influence of health workers, family and peers) in adolescent premarital sexual behavior. Method: a qualitative study with a case study design. There were 10 informants; 1 key informant, 6 main informants, and 3 supporting informants selected by purposive sampling techniques. Results: 4 out of 6 main informants had engaged in premarital sexual behavior, while 2 others admitted they had kissed. Conclusion: Regarding the predisposing factors, knowledge related to the definition, forms, factors, and the impact of premarital sex was clearly stated by adolescents. As for attitudes, adolescents had a positive attitude or abstinance towards premarital intercourse. It was found that in the supporting factors, media influenced the adolescents in form of pornographic photos and videos. As in the driving factors, health workers, family, and peers have the influence related to information, communication, and motivation among adolescents. However, adolescents prefer to tell reproductive problems to their friends.

Abstract

Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) remain a major global public health concern, particularly among young populations. Comprehensive sex education has been identified as a key strategy for reducing STI incidence, improving awareness, and promoting safe sexual behaviors. This study examines the effectiveness of sex education compared to abstinence-only approaches and public health campaigns, analyzing its role in behavioral change and stigma reduction. A systematic review of peer-reviewed literature from major academic databases, including PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar, was conducted. The findings reveal that sex education programs integrated into national curricula significantly improve STI prevention outcomes. Compared to abstinence-based programs, comprehensive sex education leads to higher rates of contraceptive use and better decision-making regarding sexual health. Moreover, its role in reducing stigma fosters an environment where individuals feel encouraged to seek healthcare services and undergo STI testing without fear of discrimination. Despite its effectiveness, sociocultural barriers and inconsistent policy implementation continue to hinder sex education initiatives. Addressing these challenges requires interdisciplinary collaboration between educators, healthcare professionals, and policymakers. Future research should explore long-term impacts, digital education tools, and culturally adaptive strategies to enhance program efficacy. Strengthening sex education policies will be crucial for reducing STI prevalence and improving global sexual health outcomes.

Abstract

HIV/AIDS prevention campaigns rely on effective communication strategies to enhance public awareness, promote behavioral change, and increase healthcare accessibility. This study examines the impact of culturally tailored interventions, digital media campaigns, and school-based education in advancing HIV prevention efforts. A systematic literature review was conducted using multiple academic databases, focusing on peer-reviewed studies that analyze the effectiveness of health messaging in diverse socio-cultural contexts. Findings reveal that culturally resonant communication strategies significantly improve engagement and reduce stigma, particularly among marginalized populations. Digital media interventions, including social media campaigns and mobile health applications, enhance outreach and increase HIV testing and preventive behaviors. School-based and peer-led educational programs reinforce knowledge retention and foster positive attitudes toward HIV prevention. However, systemic barriers such as economic disparities, stigma, and healthcare accessibility continue to challenge the effectiveness of communication campaigns. To address these challenges, policy interventions must focus on integrating culturally relevant messaging, expanding digital health resources, and strengthening multi-sector collaborations. Future research should explore innovative digital health solutions and longitudinal assessments of communication strategies to enhance their efficacy. By incorporating these elements, HIV prevention campaigns can achieve greater inclusivity and effectiveness in reducing transmission rates and improving public health outcomes.

Abstract

Condom use compliance among clients of sex workers is a critical factor in preventing sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and ensuring public health safety. This study systematically reviews global research on the determinants of condom use compliance, focusing on socio-economic, legal, and behavioral influences. A comprehensive literature search was conducted using PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar, incorporating studies published within the last 15 years. Findings indicate substantial regional disparities in condom use, with compliance rates significantly lower in areas where sex work is criminalized and financial negotiations frequently lead to unsafe practices. Additionally, substance use and perceived trust in repeat client relationships contribute to decreased condom adherence. The discussion highlights systemic barriers, including stigma and law enforcement practices, which deter sex workers from advocating for safer sex practices. Effective strategies to enhance compliance include legal decriminalization, economic support programs, and community-driven interventions. These approaches empower sex workers to negotiate safer practices while mitigating risks associated with STI transmission. Future research should focus on evaluating policy reforms, assessing long-term behavioral shifts, and refining targeted interventions for different client demographics. Addressing structural and behavioral challenges through comprehensive public health policies is imperative for reducing infection rates and improving sexual health outcomes.
