Abstract

Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) are still a morbidity and mortality problem in Southeast Asia. However, NCD in Southeast Asia still needs to be handled faster. WHO recommends the use of digital in treating NCDs in Southeast Asia. Therefore, this literature review study aims to describe how mHealth is utilized to overcome the problem of NCDs in Southeast Asian countries. The author collected articles using Google Scholar and Proquest, which were published in 2019-2023. The focus of the search was articles published in English-language Research Journals. Researchers used advanced search with the keywords NCD, Non-communicable diseases, mHealth, Mobile Health, Nursing, and Health Promotion. Keywords are combined using Boolean and/or the online database that the researcher chose. Articles that have been filtered are filtered again by selecting research locations in Southeast Asian countries. Ten articles obtained came from research in Southeast Asian countries Indonesia (n=4), Malaysia (n=1), Singapore (n=1), Vietnam (n=1), Thailand (1), Cambodia (n=1), Philippines (n=1). All articles discussed the use of mHealth for NCD management in their countries and aimed to determine the barriers (n=3), feasibility (n=1), effectiveness (n=2), impact (n=2), potential (n=1), perception (n=1), and perspective (n=1) of service providers, as well as the experience of using mHealth in remote areas (n=1). It can be concluded that mHealth can be used for independent screening for PTM, providing education about NCDs, and can be applied in rural areas as a comprehensive effort to handle NCDs.

Abstract

One of the medical diagnoses of mental disorders that is part of education in psychiatric nursing is schizophrenia. Part of the education of psychiatric nursing provides important information about mental disorders and learns new skills to deal with various challenging behaviors.  The anxiety felt by psychiatric nursing students are normal and usually do not continue after students have initial contact with patients. Aim on this study is to explore the effectiveness of VR-based simulations in enhancing the skills of nursing students in caring for patients with mental health disorders. This study method uses literature review. The literature used in this study consists of journals sourced from Wiley Online, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar between 2015 and 2024. Article selection used the protocol guidelines (PRISMA) of identification, screening, eligibility and resulted in 10 articles being analyzed. VR simulations provide immersive and realistic environments where students can safely practice therapeutic communication, conduct mental health assessments, and develop critical thinking skills. Research indicates that VR simulations significantly enhance students' skills, knowledge, and empathy in psychiatric nursing. Despite their advantages, VR technologies face limitations, such as VR technology presents challenges such as technical difficulties. However, evidence suggests that VR-based training is a promising tool for advancing psychiatric nursing education by fostering essential skills and promoting behavioral health equity among future nurses.

Abstract

The still-growing of e-health integration in Depok City's hypertension prevention and control initiatives is at odds with the city's development goal for 2021–2026, which calls for the creation of contemporary public services and the development of technology–based infrastructure. This study aims to identify the digital health literacy in hypertensive clients in Depok City. With the greatest estimated population of hypertensive clients in Depok City, the research approach is a descriptive study using the I-eHEALS questionnaire with cluster sampling technique on hypertensive clients in five urban villages, with up to 100 samples. The findings revealed that most Depok City's hypertensive clients were young adults (64%), female (72%), with a secondary education level of 59% (junior high school, high school, or equivalent), and 25% of them used YouTube as a source of digital health information. Furthermore, it is also reported that hypertensive clients in Depok City have a digital health literacy level of 26. The study's findings indicate that hypertensive clients in Depok City tend to be more digitally literate when they are young adults, female, have higher levels of education, and use online health applications as a source of information about digital health. However, these clients still struggle to assess, evaluate, and feel confident when using digital health information. The researcher suggests fostering digital health literacy and creating digital health resources with an emphasis on hypertension patients' self-care management.
