Abstract

Indonesia's efforts in realizing the vision of the World Maritime Fulcrum are considered successful in terms of the various activities and cooperation carried out by Indonesia through AOIP. Based on this success, this research wants to analyze how Indonesia's efforts are in realizing the vision of the World Maritime Axis through the ASEAN Outlook on The Indo-Pacific (AOIP). To answer research questions, this study uses 5 component indicators in the theory of Regionalism by Welter S. Jones which are guided by: 1) Maximizing economic potential; 2) Maximizing political potential; 3) Settlement of regional conflicts. The results of this study prove that the success of Indonesia's efforts in realizing the vision of the World Maritime Axis through AOIP is determined by 3 components of regionalism theory, namely: 1) Maximizing economic potential by giving priority to infrastructure development and maritime connectivity with ASEAN dialogue partner countries, 2) Maximizing political potential, namely efforts through Maritime Diplomacy in overcoming issues of maritime shipping and technical cooperation in marine science through collaboration between the public and the private sector in the region 3) Regional Conflict Resolution, namely through offering increased cooperation in the maritime field and efforts to deal with sources of conflict, such as theft fish, ownership violations, territorial disputes, piracy, and marine pollution with an emphasis that the sea must be free from various nations and not separate; Building maritime strength as a responsibility to maintain shipping safety and Maritime Security. Abstract

Malaysia, as a country, tends to be the preferable option for Indonesians to get medical treatment due to its various benefits. The main factors that lead Malaysia as the chosen destination for Indonesian visitors are its popular image as a Muslim-friendly country, its geographical proximity, the quality of its service and facility, the affordability, the experience testimony, and the combination of tourism experience and medical treatment. Furthermore, in 2017, the Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC) as the facilitator of the medical treatment industry targeted Indonesia to be one of its main markets to promote Medical Tourism effectively. This study analyses the perspective of pluralism on the nation-state level. As theoretical proof, this study uses the theory of public diplomacy and the concept of medical tourism. The data for this qualitative research was mainly done by gathering various data from books, journals, theses, official documents, reports, and websites that have relevance to the study. The result of the study has shown that Malaysia’s public diplomacy towards Indonesia was mainly done by promoting its medical tourism within 3 sectors: 1) news management, through social media and Healthcare Virtual Week Webinar; 2) strategic communication, through the Malaysia Healthcare Expo (MHX), held in several cities in Indonesia; 3) relationship building, by establishing the branch office of Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council in Jakarta and also partnership with flight agencies, health insurance, and banks in Indonesia. Abstract

Since 2016, citizens in Indonesia have faced free competition within the framework of the AEC (ASEAN Economic Community). For this reason, the first step in facing the AEC is to introduce younger generation, especially at the state's borders, to the opportunities and challenges within the AEC. After that, there must be efforts to cultivate entrepreneurial character along with selling products or services through digital marketing/marketplace. Based on the purpose, this community service activity is carried out by using counseling approach and by targeting students of SMA Negeri 1 Rupat Utara on the edge of the Malacca Strait. After its implementation, it is known that the students, from not knowing the AEC, become aware of the AEC. They are more motivated to face AEC by doing business after finishing school, continuing their education to college or working as a trained workforce. The conclusion of this activity is that the students of SMAN 1 Rupat Utara already have an entrepreneurial character. It's just that these characters must be honed and directed so that they are maximized in facing AEC.

Abstract

Abstract

The Peace Corps is a United States instrument in Indonesia that focuses on English language teaching programs in rural areas of Indonesia, not only as a means of educational assistance but also as a tool of US foreign diplomacy. Through the concept of non-military, the United States seeks to build a positive image, strengthen bilateral relations, and spread values in partner countries such as Indonesia. This study analyzes the interests of the United States in Indonesia through the Peace Corps in 2021. This analysis uses a qualitative method with the Offensive Realism theory by John J. Mearsheimer, namely that a country will continue to strive to increase its power in strategic areas with military or non-military forces. This study also uses the concept of national interest from Donald E. Nuechterlain. The result of the study show that the United States utilizes the Peace Corps as a strategic instrument to achieve its interests, particularly ideological ones through the dissemination of individualistic and open values, as well as world order interests through strengthening its influence in Southeast Asia. The Peace Corps is also part of the United States' nation-branding strategy on the global stage. Thus, the Peace Corps program is not merely a form of humanitarian cooperation, but rather reflects the United States' foreign policy interests, implemented through a long-term social and cultural approach. Abstract

This research discusses the efforts to optimize the export of Indonesian mangosteen to China through the ASEAN-China Free Trade Area (ACFTA) scheme. As a strategic horticultural commodity, mangosteen has a high economic value and plays a role in supporting the national economy. ACFTA provides a significant opportunity for Indonesia with the elimination of tariff barriers and the reduction of non-tariff barriers, thereby further opening up market access to China. This is a qualitative study with data collection conducted through library research and internet research. The theory used is the theory of comparative advantage. This research also employs a state level of analysis, an approach in international relations that views the state as the main actor and unit of analysis in understanding global political, economic, and security dynamics. The research findings indicate that optimizing the export of Indonesian mangosteen to China through ACFTA requires synergy among the government, exporter associations, and business actors. The efforts that must be made include improving product quality through certification, providing modern post-harvest facilities, supply chain efficiency, and diversifying processed mangosteen products to meet Chinese consumer preferences. With this strategy, Indonesia can not only strengthen its position in the international market but also increase the horticulture sector's contribution to national economic growth. Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic underscored health as a non-traditional security issue that directly affects national stability, particularly for Indonesia, which continues to face limitations in health infrastructure and vaccine production capacity. In contrast, South Korea demonstrated stronger crisis management due to adaptive public health strategies and a well-developed biopharmaceutical industry. These differing capacities prompted the strengthening of bilateral cooperation through the Joint Working Group (JWG) on Health in the post-pandemic period. This study aims to examine the implementation of Indonesia–South Korea cooperation under the JWG on Health and identify the factors shaping it. The analysis draws on neoliberalism, Robert O. Keohane’s theory of international cooperation, Budi Winarno’s concept of non-traditional security, and Kenneth Waltz’s levels of analysis. Methodologically, the study applies a qualitative approach using literature-based research guided by Mestika Zed, encompassing academic works, official documents, and international reports. The findings reveal that the JWG on Health has been realized through the establishment of a plasma fractionation facility, joint research initiatives, biopharmaceutical technology transfer, and hospital-to-hospital collaboration. At the individual level, leadership from the Minister of Health and biopharmaceutical industry figures plays a significant role. At the state level, Indonesia focuses on strengthening national health resilience, while South Korea advances pharmaceutical industry expansion and health diplomacy. At the international system level, the pandemic heightened global health interdependence and underscored the need for sustained institutional cooperation. Overall, this collaboration serves as a strategic effort to enhance health resilience, advance health diplomacy, and deepen long-term bilateral ties in the post-pandemic era. Keywords: International cooperation, JWG on Health, Indonesia – South Korea, Neoliberalism, Non-traditional security.

Abstract

This research aims to examine how Indonesia used public diplomacy to be selected as host of the 10th World Water Forum, an effort to strengthen cooperation in the field of water and sustainable development, at the national, regional, and international levels. Through this framework, the study analyzes the public diplomacy steps taken by Indonesia to gain international support in the selection process for the 10th World Water Forum. This reasearch uses qualitative methods, with data collection techniques through literature studies sourced from books, journals, articles, news, and websites. This study uses the perspective of Liberalism and Nicholas J. Cull's public diplomacy theory, which consists of five main components: listening, advocacy, cultural diplomacy, exchange diplomacy, and international broadcasting. The results show that Indonesia was able to effectively implement all five components of public diplomacy. This strategy succeeded in building a positive image of Indonesia in the eyes of the world, thereby gaining significant support in the voting mechanism and ultimately being selected as host of the 10th World Water Forum. Keywords: Public diplomacy, Nation branding, World Water Forum
