Abstract

Introduction: Complementary therapies have now become part of innovations that play a role in COPD patients so that they become essential as treatment supporters that have benefits, especially in improving the respiratory system, especially in COPD patients who return after exacerbations. Objectives: This study aims to determine strategies in improving the respiratory system in COPD patients through comprehensive therapy. Methods: Selection of articles using PRISMA guidelines using databased in the form of Scopus, CINAHL, Cochrane, ProQuest so that a narrative review is formed. The criteria for eligible articles include RCT or non-RCT with pre-test and post-test design, published between 2018-2023, full text, English, not considering control group, not studies related to drugs to treat diseases and complications. Results: The results obtained in this study after adjusting to the study criteria were 9 feasible articles. Complementary therapies in COPD patients can include breathing techniques, suppression techniques, music therapy, energy muscle techniques, and pulmonary rehabilitation. The complementary therapies in the study had almost mostly an impact on improving the respiratory system status of COPD patients Conclusion: Complementary therapy of COPD patients can be a holistic approach that must be a concern that can be implemented into various stages of treatment of COPD patients by involving multidisciplinary teams so that there is defense and improvement of the respiratory system

Abstract

Pencegahan bertambahnya angka kejadian penyakit Diabetes Mellitus (DM) melalui pemberian pengetahuan mengenai cara-cara dalam mempertahankan kadar gula darah tetap stabil dan menghambat terjadinya komplikasi jangka panjang bagi masyarakat yang sudah terkena DM tipe II merupakan penting bagi penderita. Edukasi dan pelatihan lebih sering akan memberikan hasil yang lebih baik. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat terdiri dari 2 tahapan yakni. Tahap persiapan dilakukan dari koordinasi perijinan dari mitra. Tahapan pelaksanaan kegiatan dilakukan pada 17 dan 18 Oktober 2023 dan RW 04 kelurahan Mangga Dua Selatan. Tahapan evaluasi dilakukan dengan pemberian kuesioner dan observasi pada peserta. Melalui penyuluhan tentang pencegahan DM melalui edukasi faktor-faktor yang berkontribusi dalam meningkatkan gula darah dapat meningkatkan pemahaman dan kesadaran serta kemampuan masyarakat kelurahan Mangga Dua Selatan dalam mencegah terjadinya penyakit DM tipe II dengan cara membatasi asupan karbohidrat dengan pemilihan makanan rendah karbohidrat, olahraga secara teratur, pemeriksaan gula darah berkala dan mengelola stress dengan baik. Bagi warga yang sudah terkena DM hendaknya menyadari pentingnya pengelolaan diet, olahraga, melakukan pemeriksaan gula darah berkala untuk memperlambat dan menghambat timbulnya komplikasi baik komplikasi jangka pendek dan jangka panjang berupa kelainan mikrovaskuler dan makrovaskuler dan gangguan saraf. Dukungan keluarga sangat dibutuhkan sebagai support sistem agar klien tetap patuh melaksanakan seluruh pilar-pilar pengelolaan DM.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic multisystem disease associted with normal insulin production, insulin impaired, or both. This disease need sustainable care that requires self management and client support to prevent long-term complications, one of this care is foot excercise. This study uses a quasi-experimental design with post test only non equivalent control group. The research sample is 38 participants to review each of the control group and intervention group, taken by purposive sampling. The result of this study showed significant differences decrease in blood sugar levels between intervention group and control group 3 weeks after study (p value 0,000 <0,05 and into week 6 research (p value 0,000 <0.5) compared with initial blood sugar levels. Gymnastics diabetes regularly is important to control blood sugar levels in addition to keep taking oral medication and meal hypoglikemik accordance with the previously programmed.

Abstract

Stroke is a clinical syndrome caused by blood supply disruption to the brain, it has an effect on many functions of the body. The most obvious motoric deficit effect is hemiparese. The aim of this study is to identify the effect of RPS exercise to muscle strength, joint range of motion and functional ability of patient with stroke at Sint Carolus Hospital Jakarta. A quasi experimental with control group pretest-posttest design was used in this study. The total samples of 30 patients with stroke were selected by a consecutive sampling method. The result showed that muscle strength (p=0,000) and functional ability (p=0,000) were significantly improved after given RPS exercise. This study recommended on the needs of further research, and the use of this exercise as an independent nursing intervention in providing care to stroke patient.
