Abstract

This article aims to construct the realization of the character of the plenary person in the Qur'an through the meaning of the word muhsin. The Qur'an has described the character of muhsin as a doer of good. The doer of good (muhsin) is the highest level of character according to the Quran, or the most ideal character. This article is conducted with thematic method as well as content analysis with the theory of the level of the plenary person in Sufism Abdul Karim al-Jilli namely bidayah, tawasut and khitam. This study found that the perpetrators of goodness (muhsin) according to the Qur'an are people who do all their obligations as well as possible, repay every badness with goodness and repay goodness with greater goodness, able to restrain their anger, forgive, always ask Allah's forgiveness for their sins and transgressions. This level is manifested in first, Ihsan deeds at the Al-Bidayah level (the initial level), namely the character of totality in doing good, and the character of forgiveness; second, the Al-Tawassuth level (the middle level) in the character of social empathy and emotional regulation; third, the Al-Khitam level (the last level) in the character of positive response, piety and tawadhu'.

Abstract

This article is based on the reality of life, especially Muslims in general, where there are still many Muslims who do not pay attention to religious tolerance in the life of the state and society. It can be seen from the reality that happened recently in Indonesia. The aim of this article is to look at the meaning and essence of tolerance in the Qur'an through the comprehension put forward by the tafsir experts by comparing the tafsir of Fath al-Qadir and the tafsir of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Indonesia. The comparative method is carried out on the work of Imam Shaukani in the interpretation of Fath al-Qadir and the Qur'an and its Tafsir by the Ministry of Religious Affairs. This article finds that these two works of interpretation both emphasize that tolerance between religious communities only applies in the sociological aspect, not in the theological context. This argument was found through various verses in the Qur'an that talk about inter-religious relations, such as Q.S. Al-Baqarah: 256, Al-An'am: 108 and Al-Kafirun 1-6. In these verses, it is then illustrated that first, in the context of the da'wah passage there is no compulsion for non-Muslims to embrace Islam and it is strictly forbidden to hurt non-Muslims by mocking their God; second, there is no compromise for non-Muslims to invite to worship idols, because theological issues or monotheism are the identities and characteristics of a Muslim.

This study aims to analyze the role of teachers in strengthening students’ tolerance character through Akidah Akhlak learning at MTsS Kayu Aro Lindung Jaya. The urgency of this research lies in the increasing importance of tolerance education in multicultural societies, particularly in schools where students from different cultural and ethnic backgrounds interact on a daily basis. Tolerance is not only a social necessity but also a moral value that must be systematically cultivated through education. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed to explore this phenomenon in depth. Data were collected using observations, interviews, and documentation to capture comprehensive perspectives from multiple stakeholders. The research participants consisted of one Akidah Akhlak teacher, the school principal, the deputy of curriculum, and ten students representing different ethnic backgrounds. The results indicate that Akidah Akhlak learning was implemented through an integrative and holistic approach that combined theoretical knowledge with practical moral guidance. The tolerance values emphasized include respect for religious, cultural, and ethnic differences, appreciation of diverse opinions, recognition of others’ beliefs, and collaboration across diversity. These values were reinforced through classroom activities, group discussions, and extracurricular programs. Strengthening tolerance was supported by teachers’ role modeling, family upbringing, the school environment, and social experiences. The internal impacts included students’ self-awareness, empathy, and conflict resolution skills, while the external impacts contributed to creating a peaceful, harmonious, and inclusive school climate. The findings highlight the strategic role of religious education as a powerful medium for cultivating tolerance and social cohesion in multicultural contexts

Employing a qualitative case study approach, the study utilized primary and secondary data. Information was gathered through observation, interviews, and documentation, and subsequently analyzed using data reduction, display, and conclusion drawing. The validity of the data was ensured through prolonged field engagement, persistent observation, and methodological triangulation. The findings indicate that the planning and implementation of group counseling services were both successful, with guidance and counseling teachers effectively preparing for and using habituation to build students' confidence and learning motivation. The evaluation revealed significant positive changes in students, who demonstrated greater courage to express opinions and enhanced problem-solving abilities. Despite these successes, obstacles such as varied student characters, limited cooperation among group members, and a lack of adequate facilities were identified. In conclusion, the findings highlight that group counseling is a viable and effective strategy for fostering and strengthening creative character in students, with practical implications for improving educational outcomes through a supportive and structured intervention.
