Abstract

Comet fish (Carasius auratus) is one type of ornamental fish that is very popular with consumers and has commercial value because it has various shapes and colors such as yellow, white, black and red. Efforts to obtain the percentage of females can be done by sex transfer by immersing the larvae in purwoceng extract. Purwoceng extract (pimpinella alpina) is an aphrodisiac plant that contains compounds related to phytosteroids, such as stigmasterol which functions to improve sexual quality. This study used a completely randomized design with 4 treatments and 3 replications, the dose used was treatment A without dose (control), B dose 10 mg/l, C dose 15 mg/l, D dose 25 mg/l. The results showed that the highest percentage of female fish was present in the treatment dose (B) 10 mg of purwoceng extract, which was 45.94%, followed by treatment A 42.39%, treatment C 24.36%, treatment D 10.83%. While the highest growth was found in treatment D, namely 1.115 g, followed by C 0.820 g, B, 0.910 and A 0.785.

Abstract

Congo Tetra fish is one of the freshwater ornamental fish species which is in great demand because of its high economic value. Male congo tetra fish have a higher selling value than female fish, because the morphology of their bodies looks more attractive, especially their brighter colors and long fins. Sex reversal technology is one technique that can be used to obtain male monosexual offspring. The hormone 17α-methyltestosterone in male fish can increase spermatogenesis and determine secondary sex markers in male fish through the formation of sexual characteristics in fish morphology and body color. The administration of the hormone 17α-methyltestosterone with the right dose can increase the percentage of male sex of Congo Tetra fish. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the hormone 17α-methyltestosterone with different doses on the percentage of male sex, absolute weight growth, and survival of congo tetra fish, to determine which 17α-methyltestosterone hormone dose had the best effect on the percentage of male sex, growth in absolute weight, and survival in congo tetra fish. This research was conducted at the Regional Technical Service Unit of the Fish Seed Center for Ternate City. The time for conducting the research starts from March to May, 2020. In this study, 4 treatment doses of hormones were used, each treatment was repeated 3 times. The treatments tried were as follows: Treatment A: Dose 2 mg/l, Treatment B: Dose 3 mg/l, Treatment C: Dose 4 mg/l, Treatment D: Dose 0 mg/l (control). The results showed that the hormone 17α-methyl testosterone with different doses had a very significant effect on the male sex percentage of congo tetra fish, but it was not significantly different on the growth in absolute weight and survival of congo tetra fish. The highest average percentage of male sex in congo tetra fish was found in treatment C (dose 4 mg/l) which was 86.6%, the highest average value of growth in absolute weight was found in treatment A (hormone dose 2 mg/l) of 1.083 g, and the highest survival was found in treatment D (control) of 90.473%.

Abstract

Tilapia (Oreochomis niloticus) is one of Indonesia's freshwater fish which has economic value. One way to obtain optimal fish hatchery results is by improving reproductive performance, which can be increased by improving the nutritional quality of the parent feed. The nutritional elements that must be present in the main fish feed include vitamin E and fatty acids. Vitamin E has a very important and decisive role in fish reproduction, because Vitamin E functions as an antioxidant which can prevent the oxidation of unsaturated fatty acids in cells and as an antioxidant. Fatty acids present in the cell membrane can accelerate the embryogenesis process to run normally and reproduction results can be increased. Ovagrow is high-quality Vitamin E which is useful for maintaining the egg and sperm maturation process in the parent fish. Ovagrow is also useful for multiplying and improving the quality of eggs and sperm in brood fish. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of giving different doses of ovagrow to accelerate gonadal maturation of tilapia and to determine the effect of adding ovagrow to gonadal maturity and egg fecundity in tilapia broodstock. The research method used a completely randomized design (CRD) which consisted of 4 treatments with 3 repetitions each. Treatment A ovagrow dose 0.3 gr/1 kg feed, Treatment B ovagrow dose 0.5 gr/1 kg feed, Treatment C ovagrow dose 0.7 gr/1 kg feed and Treatment D ovagrow dose (control) 1 gr/1 kg of feed. The results showed that the TKG of tilapia with the highest percentage was in treatment A and the best fecundity of tilapia was in treatments A and D with a total average value of 541.26. Based on the results of the research conducted, it can be concluded that administration of ovagrow at different doses did not have a significant effect on the gonad maturity level of tilapia broodstock and the average fecundity of tilapia (Oreochoromis niloticus).

Abstract

Local ecological knowledge is knowledge and beliefs that are largely derived from observations of the ecological processes of resources in the surrounding area and the various factors that influence them based on the logical interpretation of local communities. Local ecological knowledge has an important role in informing sound spatial, spatial and temporal management approaches for marine spatial planning. The aim of this research is to identify the ecological knowledge of local communities regarding the mangrove ecosystem and 2) Community perceptions regarding the management of mangrove ecotourism in Talaga Yenelo in Sagea Village and 3). The level of perception of local communities regarding Ecotourism activities. The method used in this research is determining the sample in this research using a purposive sampling method, namely respondents who participate are deliberately selected by researchers according to the criteria of research respondents. To determine people's knowledge and perceptions, it is based on a Likert scale assessment system and multiple linear regression analysis to see the influence of several independent variables on one dependent variable. The research results show that the people of Sagea and Kiya villages have better knowledge of the local ecology of mangrove forests, especially mangrove habitat, factors of mangrove damage and the impact of mangrove damage compared to the function of mangroves. with the level of utilization of the mangrove ecosystem in the villages of Sagea and Kiya varying greatly. While understanding of mangrove ecotourism activities is very minimal, they agree with the ecotourism activities carried out. Therefore, there is a need for follow-up action from the government regarding mangrove forest management based on the mangrove forest environment.
