Abstract

Tilapia (Oreochomis niloticus) is one of Indonesia's freshwater fish which has economic value. One way to obtain optimal fish hatchery results is by improving reproductive performance, which can be increased by improving the nutritional quality of the parent feed. The nutritional elements that must be present in the main fish feed include vitamin E and fatty acids. Vitamin E has a very important and decisive role in fish reproduction, because Vitamin E functions as an antioxidant which can prevent the oxidation of unsaturated fatty acids in cells and as an antioxidant. Fatty acids present in the cell membrane can accelerate the embryogenesis process to run normally and reproduction results can be increased. Ovagrow is high-quality Vitamin E which is useful for maintaining the egg and sperm maturation process in the parent fish. Ovagrow is also useful for multiplying and improving the quality of eggs and sperm in brood fish. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of giving different doses of ovagrow to accelerate gonadal maturation of tilapia and to determine the effect of adding ovagrow to gonadal maturity and egg fecundity in tilapia broodstock. The research method used a completely randomized design (CRD) which consisted of 4 treatments with 3 repetitions each. Treatment A ovagrow dose 0.3 gr/1 kg feed, Treatment B ovagrow dose 0.5 gr/1 kg feed, Treatment C ovagrow dose 0.7 gr/1 kg feed and Treatment D ovagrow dose (control) 1 gr/1 kg of feed. The results showed that the TKG of tilapia with the highest percentage was in treatment A and the best fecundity of tilapia was in treatments A and D with a total average value of 541.26. Based on the results of the research conducted, it can be concluded that administration of ovagrow at different doses did not have a significant effect on the gonad maturity level of tilapia broodstock and the average fecundity of tilapia (Oreochoromis niloticus).

Abstract

Estuaries are one of the habitats for gastropods that have not been widely explored in North Maluku. This study aims at assessing the ecological conditions of gastropods in the estuarine waters including their composition, distribution, density, and species diversity. The study was conducted in August 2024 in the estuarine waters of Kaiyasa Village (Station 1) and Oba Village (Station 2). Data collection was carried out using the Quadratic Linear Transect Method. The results of this study found six species of gastropods with the highest composition found at Station 1 as 6 species, namely Faunus ater, Telescopium telescopium, Terebralia palustris, Cerithium coralium, Nassarius olivaceus, and Chicoreus capucinus compared to Station 2 as two species namely F. ater and T. palustris. F. ater which dominated both research stations since they were found in large numbers, namely 342 individuals (93%) at Station 1 and 299 individuals (98%) at Station 2. F. ater also had the highest density values of all species of gastropods found, namely 19.00 ind/m2 (Station 1) and 16.61 ind/m2 (Station 2), while C. coralium and C. capucinus have the lowest density values of 0.11 ind/m2. In general, the ecological conditions of gastropods at both research stations indicate a relatively low level of species diversity (H’ = 0.1 – 0.34), with low species evenness (E = 0.14 – 0.19), and indicated the dominance of certain species (C = 0.87 – 0.96), namely F. ater. The quality of the estuary water environment at both stations was still suitable for supporting gastropod life.

Abstract

Central Halmahera Regency is one of the seaweed producing districts in North Maluku Province. So far, seaweed farmers have only marketed their harvested grass in dry form. For the community, especially coastal mothers, processed seaweed is a product that most people in Central Halmahera Regency are familiar with. One of the efforts to increase the selling value of seaweed is to make preparations in the form of seaweed sticks and nuggets. The purpose of this community service activity is to increase the community's knowledge and skills in the seaweed processing business. This community service will be held in September 2022 in the hall of the Central Halmahera Maritime and Fishery Service office. This activity was attended by 20 participants consisting of MSME groups in Central Halmahera Regency. The method of implementing this community service includes a theoretical understanding of the potential for seaweed development as a food product as well as an introduction to the types of processed seaweed, an introduction to the tools and materials needed for seaweed processing, packaging techniques for processed seaweed products and the practice of making processed seaweed. seaweed sticks and nuggets). The result of this training activity is to produce processed seaweed products, namely seaweed sticks and nuggets which are ready to be marketed. The conclusion of this activity is the skills of the community, especially the MSME group in making/processing diversified processed seaweed products in the form of seaweed sticks and nuggets so that the MSME group can create and produce it as a new product to be marketed.
