Abstract

The prevalence of anemia in adolescent girls is increasing, so other efforts are needed for prevention. One of the factors that influence the occurrence of anemia is iron deficiency. Handling anemia with food ingredients is still rarely done even though it has great potential to prevent anemia, especially in adolescent girls. Based on field observations, there are still adolescents who have signs and symptoms of anemia, education has been carried out regarding anemia but the role of adolescents in preventing anemia has not been active. The community service activity in the form of "Empowerment of Anti-Anemia Adolescents in Anemia Prevention Based on the Utilization of Local Foods at SMAS Adhyaksa 1" based on a mini workshop was carried out from March to August 2025 for students sent by PIK-R SMAS Adhyaksa 1 Jambi City. The purpose of this community service activity is to increase knowledge and change the attitudes of adolescent cadres about anemia prevention based on the utilization of local foods and the formation of anti-anemia adolescent cadres at SMAS Adhyaksa 1 Jambi City. The number of participants in the mini workshop consisted of 8 PIK-R female students for 1 day, given through lectures, simulations, discussions, questions and answers and Hb level screening on August 15, 2025. The material was delivered in the form of a simulation of early detection of signs and symptoms of anemia among peers using a checklist and a simulation of Hb level examination using a Hbmeter. In addition, it was also equipped with a pocket book "anti-anemia youth cadres" and a leaflet of recipes for making food made from moringa and patin. Before and after the mini workshop, a pretest and posttest were conducted to assess knowledge and attitudes about early detection of signs and symptoms of anemia and its prevention by utilizing local food. The PKM results showed that the average pre-test score of participants was 6.875 while the posttest results showed that the average score of participants was 9.375, there was a difference/difference of 2-3 points from the pretest and posttest results meaning that participants experienced an increase in knowledge and skills after being educated. It is necessary to optimize the role of youth cadres for local food-based anemia prevention

Abstract

Breast milk (ASI) is a fat emulsion in a solution of proteins, lactose, and organic salts secreted by the mother’s mammary glands as the primary food for infants. A common problem arises when breast milk production is not optimal, causing infants to receive an insufficient amount of milk, which may lead to frequent hunger and hinder their growth and development. Midwives play a crucial role in providing education to pregnant and breastfeeding mothers to prepare for the lactation period by increasing breast milk production. This community service activity was delivered to midwives at PMB Latifah Nur with the aim of enhancing their knowledge regarding improving breast milk production and preparing for the lactation period early—starting from family planning, during pregnancy, and throughout breastfeeding. As midwives, providing attention to infant growth and development by ensuring adequate breast milk intake is an essential responsibility supported through this community service program. The activity was conducted on February 22, 2025. The methods included health education, demonstrations of proper breastfeeding techniques, the use of local plants to support milk production, hands-on oxytocin massage practice, and an interactive question-and-answer session. Evaluation was carried out using pre-tests and post-tests to measure improvements in participants’ understanding. The results showed a significant increase in participants’ knowledge regarding factors affecting breast milk production, breast care techniques, and steps to stimulate oxytocin and prolactin hormones. Participants also reported improved confidence in applying lactation practices in daily life. This activity is expected to become a sustainable program to support successful breastfeeding and improve the health status of mothers and infants

Abstract

This study explores the integration of Social Emotional Learning (SEL) principles into English language teaching and its influence on Second Language Acquisition (SLA). Conducted at MTs Ainal Yaqin in Jambi, Indonesia, the research employed a qualitative multiple case design involving classroom observations and semi structured teacher interviews. Thematic analysis identified key teaching patterns that align with SEL principles including creating a supportive and safe learning environment, building positive teacher–student relationships, providing positive reinforcement, fostering peer collaboration, and integrating SEL based strategies such as storytelling, role play, and project-based learning. Findings reveal that these practices contribute to lowering students’ anxiety, increasing motivation, and improving willingness to communicate which in turn enhance linguistic competence and socio emotional growth. The results align with Krashen’s Affective Filter Hypothesis, sociocultural perspectives, and the CASEL Framework, highlighting that reduced anxiety and emotional security foster more effective language acquisition. Despite challenges such as time constraints and varied emotional regulation abilities among students, the outcomes including greater fluency, improved vocabulary mastery, heightened engagement, and stronger interpersonal skills demonstrate the transformative potential of embedding SEL strategically into English language instruction.

Abstract

One effort to maintain digestive health is to consume foods containing probiotics obtained from local foods, namely fermented foods such as tempeh, pickles, tempoyak, tauco and tape. Probiotics that breastfeeding mothers get from daily consumption of local food are good for the health of the mother's digestive tract and their babies from breastfeeding. The total lactic acid bacteria in breast milk is between 5,000 – 46,000 CFU/ml, it is estimated that a baby every day obtains around 500 thousand to 5 million lactic acid bacteria cells. This study aims to determine the behavior of breastfeeding mothers in utilizing local food sources probiotics. This research method is an analytic survey with a cross sectional design. The population of this study were all breastfeeding mothers who had babies aged 0-2 years at PMB Muzilatul Nisma with a total sample of 10 people using accidental sampling technique. The research was conducted from December 2022 to July 2023 using an e-questionnaire. Data were analyzed using the Chi-Square test. The results showed that there was no relationship between knowledge, attitudes and perceptions of breastfeeding mothers regarding the use of local food sources of probiotics (p value 0.491; 0.576; 0491). There is a relationship between food taboos for breastfeeding mothers regarding the use of local food sources of probiotics (p value = 0.024). It would be better if midwives could increase education regarding local food sources of probiotics and breastfeeding mothers could increase their knowledge and utilization of probiotic sources from local food.
