Abstract

Objective: To determine the different effects of kinesiotapping and massage to reduce low back pain in pregnant women in the 3rd trimester. Methods: This study is quasi-experimental with a pre-post test group design, where pain is measured using Numeric Rating Scale (NRS). The sample consisted of 14 people at Dinar Kusuma Dewi Midwife Practice in Karawang. The sample was divided into 2 treatment groups: treatment group I consisted of 7 people given kinesiotapping intervention and treatment group II consisted of 7 people given massage intervention. Results: The normality test using the Shapiro Wilk test found that the data was not normally distributed with a p value < 0.05, while the homogeneity test using Levene's test found that the data was homogeneous with a p value > 0.05. The results of hypothesis testing I using the Wilcoxon test obtained a value of p = 0.017 with median (min-max) before and after amounting to 5 (4-6) and 3 (1-3). The results of hypothesis II using the Wilcoxon test obtained a p value = 0.016 with median (min-max) before and after of 5 (4-8) and 1 (0-3). The results of hypothesis III test using Mann Whitney test obtained p value = 0.006 with a median (min-max) before and after of 3 (2-4) and 4 (4-6). Conclusion: There is a significant difference between kinesiotapping intervention and massage to reduce low back pain in 3rd trimester pregnant women.

Abstract

Objective: is to determine the relationship between the explosive power of the leg muscles and the swimming speed of the 50m breaststroke sprint athlete aged. Methods: this research is a non-experimental research in the form of a correlation study to analyze the relationship between leg muscle explosive power and swimming speed of 50m breaststroke sprint athletes. There are 23 swimmers as the samples from Tumit Mitra Bangsa Swimming Association with an age range of 12-17 years taken with purposive sampling technique. The measurements taken were leg muscle explosive power with vertical jumps and swimming speed by mathematical calculation of the division of the pool distance (50m) with a record of the swimmer's time measured using a stopwatch. Result: the correlation test with the Spearman rank correlation coefficient showed a significant relationship with a value of p = 0.001 (p <0.05) with a very strong relationship (r = 0.997), which means greater explosive power of the leg muscles increases the swimming speed of the 50m breaststroke sprint athlete. The average with a standard deviation of leg muscle explosive power is 45.85 ± 5.99 and at swimming speed is 1.07 ± 0.15. Conclusions: there is a significant relationship between leg muscle explosive power and 50m breaststroke swimming speed.

Abstract

The process of learning from home during the Covid-19 pandemic, which is generally sedentary, causes changes in the basic functions of the body. In addition, lack of knowledge about movement and basic body functions and minimal checking of student body posture at school can have an impact on decreasing student fitness, concentration, and achievement. This can be seen when students began to be active again to carry out 100% learning from schools after the Covid-19 pandemic. The purposes of this community service activity are to provide preventive and curative efforts through educational assistance and examination of movements and basic body functions to increase student insigh about ideal body posture. This activity was carried out at SMA Negeri 85 West Jakarta with a target of 35 students, through four main activities: (1) preparation and production of educational materials about movements and basic body functions, (2) mentoring and delivery of material to the students, (3) examine movements and basic body functions, and (4) evaluate. The results achieved during the implementation showed the seriousness and enthusiasm of the students and based on the results of the examination, there were still students who had abnormal BMI and abdominal circumference. Likewise for body posture, examination of the upper extremities with a neck shoulder line test and examination of the lower extremities with true length and appearance length tests found dissimilarities between the right and left sides of the body. Furthermore, in the examination of body functions through isometric and prone plank tests, there are scores below the normal score, which means that there is a decrease in basic body functions like muscle strength and endurance. The results of this examination are evaluated and students will be able to recognize their body posture and take actions/steps that can maintain/ improve the posture to be better.
