Abstract

Women's involvement in radicalism and their role in addressing the issue are important considerations. Islamic organizations, such as Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) and Muhammadiyah in Indonesia, have played a significant role in combating radicalism. NU has developed the concept of Islam Nusantara as an antidote, while Muhammadiyah focuses on Progressive Islam as a counter-discourse. This research aims to explore the communication strategies used by women activists in Islamic organizations to address radicalism. The study will employ a descriptive qualitative method, focusing on Nasyiatul Aisyiyah and Fatayat NU as mass organizations representing young women. This research have a finding that the  women activists in Islamic organizations employ distinct communication strategies to address radicalism, with Muhammadiyah emphasizing moderation and inclusivity, and NU focusing on identifying radicalism within groups. Effective communicators and targeted communication media are prioritized, despite the differing approaches between the two organizations.

Abstract

The case of bullying that occurred at SMPN 16 Malang and affected MS became a topic of discussion in various media, including online media. In reporting a case, media is a reality construct. A number of pros and cons become interesting perspectives raised in the media, including radarmalang.jawapos.com. This study aims to find out how the reporting construction is on news content related to the bullying case that occurred on MS student at SMP 16 Surabaya using the framing analysis method according to Zhongdan Pan & Konsicki. The research results mention that the news construction made by radarmalang.jawapos.com tends to take the side of the government and related institutions and the media tends to bully the school. This is proven by the five news analyzed, none of which highlights the clarification or defense from the school. Radar Malang tends to raise topics that blame the school and the authorities (government, education, culture and arts department, KPAI) framed as if washing their hands of this case. The images selected to accompany the journalism news also tend to put the school in a corner. Radar Malang also tends to overly protect the perpetrators of bullying acts with more subtle diction choices.

Abstract

Komunikasi yang baik merupakan kunci dalam pembelajaran, khususnya dalam pembelajaran di Sekolah Dasar. Kemampuan public speaking bagi Guru SDN 2 Girimoyo dirasa belum memadai dan belum optimal. Sedangkan di era saat ini, guru dituntut meningkatkan profesionalitasnya sebagai pengajar dan pendidik. Oleh karena itu, sebagai sikap proaktif dari gambaran di atas, tim dosen FISIP Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang memandang perlu diadakan pelatihan public speaking terhadap guru SD. Para guru SDN 2 Girimoyo akan mendapatkan pelatihan berupa workshop etika public speaking, public speaking virtual dan public speaking luring. Pelatihan ini dilakukan agar guru memahami berbagai teknik public speaking dan dapat menerapkannya dalam pembelajaran. Setelah menerima pelatihan diharapkan para guru SDN 2 Girimoyo mampu memberikan pengajaran yang informatif, padat dan menyenangkan. Sehingga paradigma ceramah yang membosankan dalam pembelajaran sedikit demi sedikit mulai dihilangkan. Guru diharapkan mampu menjadi fasilitator kepada peserta didik dengan menggunakan komunikasi dua arah dan bersifat tidak menggurui. Hasil dari pengabdian masyarakat ini ditemukan formula untuk meningkatkan penguatan kompetensi komunikasi dengan memberikan pelatihan dasar komunikasi, pelatihan mc formal dan non formal. Dari hasil pengabdian ini terbentuk komunitas public speaker yang suportif di kalangan para guru.
