Abstract

Education cannot be separated from the role of a teacher and the teaching style used. The teaching style is a technique in presenting the teaching content. So that the teaching style can attract students' interest. Dead Poets Society is an educational film with the theme of Education. This film tells the story of an English teacher who inspires his students by teaching poetry using his unique teaching style named John Keating. He uses a different teaching style from other teachers in giving lessons till the students are interested to learn poetry. The object of this research is the main character in this film that is Mr. John Keating and the students’ interest in the teaching style used by the main character. The method This research uses qualitative descriptive. The result of this research was found that there were two types of teaching styles used by the main character in Dead Poets Society film. Those are Personalize Teaching Style and Interactional Teaching Style. Meanwhile, the students’ interest in responding to the teaching style used by the main character are only some of the appropriate indicators, those are Concentration while learning, focusing while the teacher explains the material, Enthusiastic to follow the lesson, trying to do the task difficult as any, enjoying in doing the task or exercise given by the teacher at school, having a high enthusiastic to the lesson and the teacher, and the last is answering the question from the teacher.

Abstract

There has recently been a spike in student enthusiasm in using technology to engage in their study. Augmented reality is one of the technologies that has been determined to be acceptable for usage in educational settings such as science, mathematics, and engineering. As a result, this study looked into the usefulness of employing mobile augmented reality (MAR) to improve students' speaking skills. This study employed a quasi-experimental approach with two groups: control and experimental. They are conducting MAR and traditional instructional methods teaching and learning sessions. According to the findings of this study, students in the experimental group demonstrated considerably higher levels of speaking skills than those in the control group following teaching and learning. Furthermore, this study discovered that MAR can help to highlight student-centered learning, stimulate student interest and curiosity, improve student cognitive, emotional, and psychomotor processes, and increase student involvement in the information-seeking process. It is recommended that educators employ MAR in their teaching and learning since it has effectively improved students' speaking skills and encouraged a better grasp of knowledge

Abstract

This study aims to explore how English teachers at Pondok Pesantren Nurul Jadid conceptualize their professional identity within the unique context of a pesantren-based Islamic school. Employing a survey research method, this investigation gathers data from junior high school English teachers to understand their perceptions and experiences in shaping their teacher identities. The research seeks to delve into the multifaceted nature of teacher identity, considering the interplay of religious values, pedagogical approaches, and the cultural environment of the pesantren. By examining these dimensions, the study aims to uncover how these educators balance their roles as language instructors and moral guides, integrating Islamic teachings with their professional responsibilities. The findings described the interconnectedness of Future Perspective, Teacher Belief, Career Perception, and Self-Efficacy plays a critical role in shaping teacher professional identity. A positive outlook on these aspects encourages teachers to remain committed, resilient, and engaged in their profession. Professional development programs tailored to enhance teacher skills and confidence, along with mentorship opportunities, are essential in reinforcing a strong professional identity. Furthermore, educational policies that prioritize fair compensation, job security, and access to resources create a supportive environment where teachers can thrive. By addressing both internal and external factors that influence professional identity, educational leaders can ensure that teachers feel valued and empowered, ultimately leading to improved job satisfaction, retention, and student outcomes. A focus on these key areas is vital for sustaining a motivated and effective teaching workforce.
