Abstract

Abstract

The construction of an SME center is an alternative for the Langkat Regency government to develop the furniture industry. Until now, SME centers have not shown economic development and activity as expected. A prospective strategy to analyze internal and external environmental factors related to development, competitiveness and existence needs to be owned by SME centers. This research aims to analyze internal and external factors, as well as develop alternative strategies for developing the Langkat Furniture SME center. The analysis tools used are the SWOT matrix and QSPM. Previous research did not determine a development strategy for the small industrial sector which focused on centers built by the government with the concept of artificial development. Respondents in this study were SMEs and government employees who knew the conditions of the centers as a whole. The results of the IE matrix analysis show the position of SME centers in quadrant I, namely belonging to the category of growth through vertical integrity. The formulation of alternative strategies from matching each internal and external factor in the SWOT matrix resulted in 9 strategies. The results of the IE and SWOT matrix assessment and analysis of the strategies formulated show that the strategies required regarding the development of SME centers are intensive, namely market penetration, product development and market development. The QSPM analysis displays strategic decisions that are priorities according to the conditions of the Langkat Furniture SME center, namely the commitment of the local government in developing the center.

Abstract

Increased competition in the industry encourages companies to focus on customer satisfaction to maintain competitiveness. The combination of Design for Assembly (DFA) and Design for Serviceability (DFS) methods is a common concern for researchers, especially in product development. This research describes the integration of DFA and DFS methods to solve product problems, starting from the method development stage, the interrelationship between the two methods, etc. The successful application of these methods is evident through high efficiency and improved product quality. Key factors involved management cooperation, use of quality tools, and teamwork. Leading journals highlight product cost reduction through Design for Serviceability and DFA techniques. Emphasis on sustainability, especially by integrating sustainability goals in product design, evidenced positive environmental impact and market response. Research also highlighted the need for identification and prioritisation of customer requirements and optimisation of production process parameters. The integration of modelling methods and design systems, such as in the development of a modelling system for metal casting processes, demonstrated success in achieving effective product development goals. Overall, this research provides an in-depth understanding of the potential and benefits of applying DFA and DFS in efficient, high-quality and sustainable product development, providing a foundation for further development and implementation by practitioners and researchers.

Abstract

Abstract:In the current modern era, the competitive situation of the manufacturing industry has increased and is very tight. The importance of production efficiency in a company is to increase revenue, which is the goal of every company by minimizing waste. One approach used to minimize waste is lean manufacturing. The study was conducted on a company that produces and markets products in the form of lamp posts on public roads and toll roads. The problem that often occurs in the manufacturing process of product items is that many production processes are not achieved according to the standard time set by the Company. In this study, a Lean Manufacturing analysis was carried out to improve the lamp post production process using the Value Stream Analysis Tools (Valsat) method. Based on this study, the type of waste waiting is the most dominant type of waste with a percentage of 19.55%. In second place is the type of waste overproduction with a cumulative percentage of 18.54% while waste motion is 17.32%. Based on the current state value stream mapping, the process cycle efficiency of the Hexagonal Lamp Post manufacturing process is 98%.  Keyword:Lean Manufacturing, Waste, Value Stream Analysis Tools, Process Cycle  Efficiency  Abstrak:Pada era modern saatinisituasipersainganindustri manufakturmengalamikenaikan dan sangat ketat.Pentingnyaefisiensiproduksidalamsebuahperusahaanadalahuntukmeningkatkanpendapatandimanahalinimerupakantujuansetiap perusahaandenganmemperkecilterjadinyawaste.
