Abstract

The construction of an SME center is an alternative for the Langkat Regency government to develop the furniture industry. Until now, SME centers have not shown economic development and activity as expected. A prospective strategy to analyze internal and external environmental factors related to development, competitiveness and existence needs to be owned by SME centers. This research aims to analyze internal and external factors, as well as develop alternative strategies for developing the Langkat Furniture SME center. The analysis tools used are the SWOT matrix and QSPM. Previous research did not determine a development strategy for the small industrial sector which focused on centers built by the government with the concept of artificial development. Respondents in this study were SMEs and government employees who knew the conditions of the centers as a whole. The results of the IE matrix analysis show the position of SME centers in quadrant I, namely belonging to the category of growth through vertical integrity. The formulation of alternative strategies from matching each internal and external factor in the SWOT matrix resulted in 9 strategies. The results of the IE and SWOT matrix assessment and analysis of the strategies formulated show that the strategies required regarding the development of SME centers are intensive, namely market penetration, product development and market development. The QSPM analysis displays strategic decisions that are priorities according to the conditions of the Langkat Furniture SME center, namely the commitment of the local government in developing the center.

Abstract

With an average error rate of 2.3%, the production of fuel transportation tanks at PT Sejahtera Mandiri Pekanbaru has defects that exceed the 2% tolerance level. Porosity, undercut, and crack are the most frequent types of defects that result in additional cost and rework time. This study aims to improve the quality of the fuel transportation tank production process at PT Sejahtera Mandiri Pekanbaru. Data shows that production errors such as porosity, undercut, and cracks have an impact on the quality of the final product. This study used a 2k full factorial design to find the main components that affect the quality of welding results. The results show that operator certification and electrode temperature oven parameters have a great influence on manufacturing defects. Maximizing the use of electrode oven at 260°C-425°C for 1 hour, electrode moisture can be eliminated and porosity can be reduced. The DoE approach is good for finding and optimizing production features to reduce defect rates. This study suggests operator training and control of process parameters to improve welding quality.

Abstract

The research used in the thesis entitled "Analysis of Human Resource Management Competency Development Strategy among Gen Z in Facing the Society 5.0 Era through the SOAR Method Case Study: PT. X (Persero) Tbk" is a descriptive and exploratory research. The research location was conducted at PT X (Persero), Tbk which is located in Menara Mandiri, Medan City, North Sumatra. The method used to analyze this strategy is the SOAR Method. The research population is all Gen Z employees who work at PT. X (Persero) Tbk Region I/Sumatera 1. Based on data obtained from the Human Capital (HC) department, the number of employees of PT. X Region I/Sumatera 1 who are included in the Gen Z category is 200 people. This population consists of various departments and positions within the company, both those working in regional offices, areas and branches. So the number of respondents who will be used as samples in this study is 133 employees. Based on the results of the data analysis, the following conclusions were obtained: PT's strategy. X (Persero) Tbk in managing HR development is carried out through a holistic, technology-driven approach, oriented towards employee welfare and continuous innovation. This is supported by various programs that have been designed to prepare employees to face digital and social challenges in the future. The main obstacle in developing the competency of Gen Z employees is the lack of time to attend training. Lack of time is the main obstacle because employees are often busy with routine tasks and tight work targets, making it difficult to take the time to attend training programs provided by the company. The strategy that has been implemented by PT. X (Persero) Tbk is good but not yet effective because Gen Z employees cannot attend training programs provided by PT. X (Persero) Tbk due to lack of time to attend training. Generation Z employees have high internal strengths (Strengths), especially in mastery of digital technology, critical thinking skills, and learning motivation. This is reflected in the average score of the Strengths dimension of 4.42. Organizational support in terms of development opportunities (Opportunities) is still classified as moderate with a score of 3.13. This shows the need for increased training, career guidance, and a culture of innovation to support Gen Z growth. Gen Z employees' aspirations for career development and contribution to the company are very high, with an average score on the Aspirations dimension reaching 4.78. This shows their readiness and enthusiasm to play an active role in organizational transformation. Gen Z employees show high confidence in the results of competency development (Results), with the highest score among all dimensions, namely 4.86. This reflects their optimism about the benefits of the training and learning carried out. The most effective competency strategy is Workshop/Seminar. This is evident from the high percentage of respondents who chose this strategy, namely 51.1%. This activity allows employees to acquire the latest knowledge and skills in a short time, as well as providing an opportunity to interact directly with experts or practitioners in a particular field. This is very important in facing the challenges of rapid technological developments in the Society 5.0 era. Workshops/Seminars also support the networking process between employees and professionals, which can improve collaboration and team problem solving, which are important components in the competency development strategy for Gen Z who are very exposed to technological developments. Another effective competency development strategy is Mentoring/Coaching. Direct guidance from superiors or experienced mentors can develop technical and non-technical skills in more depth. More intense interaction between mentors and mentees makes the learning process more personal and relevant to the challenges faced. This is very important in facing the Society 5.0 era, where rapid technological changes require employees who have adaptive and innovative skills. Mentoring/Coaching is an integral part of an effective competency development strategy, especially in preparing Gen Z to pursue a successful career in the world of work.

Abstract

Fiber brush production is entirely conducted manually by workers with the help of a very simple tool. Workers complain of experiencing pain in some parts of the body when working using sitting and standing postures. This study will evaluate the causes of pain complaints in workers who engage in fiber-binding and fiber-cutting activities. Pain complaints data are obtained from the Standard Nordic Questionnaire (SNQ) and work posture is assessed using the RULA and REBA methods. The assessment result shows that work method with unbalanced limb loadings induces pain complaints on workers. The choice between standing and sitting work posture is based on workload received by workers. Therefore, it is proposed to provide ergonomic work facilities in order to minimize the loading received by workers.

Abstract

Used cooking oil that is repeatedly used can be dangerous for health due to changes in composition and the release of acrolein, which can potentially cause cancer. This community service activity aims to raise awareness among the public about the dangers of consuming used cooking oil repeatedly. However, awareness of the dangers of cooking oil has created a new pollution problem related to waste disposal. People still dispose of used cooking oil directly into dishwashing sinks, drains, or even into the ground. The challenge faced by the Green Group partners so far is the fluctuation in the level of public interest and activity in collecting used cooking oil waste. Although the public has been educated about the impact of using used cooking oil waste and its indiscriminate disposal, the amount of oil collected is still not as expected. This challenge is being addressed by selecting one exemplary district, Datuk Bandar Sub-district, in Tanjungbalai City. Education is conducted collectively in village halls, door to door, and through the distribution of brochures and flyers. The public can submit used cooking oil waste to Green Group partners, which can be exchanged for money or basic necessities. The implementation team of the community service program is forming several community groups to extend the chain of public understanding about health and environmental preservation. The sub-districts in Datuk Bandar Sub-district become the pilot location that will later spread to other sub-districts, so that more people understand and participate in the activity. The hope is that the implementation of this community service program will achieve the third Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which is to ensure healthy lives and promote the well-being of people of all ages.
