Abstract

The Indonesian palm oil industry, a global leader in production, faces increasing challenges in maintaining efficiency and quality. This study aims to apply the Lean Six Sigma methodology to enhance production processes by integrating Lean Manufacturing principles with the systematic, data-driven approach of Six Sigma. Using the Define-Measure-Analyze-Improve-Control (DMAIC) framework, the research identifies and mitigates inefficiencies in key stations of a palm oil mill. Novelty lies in the application of Lean Six Sigma to the palm oil industry, demonstrating significant improvements: a 16% increase in process cycle efficiency, a reduction of 70.5 kg in daily fresh fruit bunch (FFB) losses, and a decrease in associated costs by IDR 176,750 per day. The findings underscore the potential for continuous improvement in the industry through the systematic application of Lean Six Sigma.

Abstract

PT. Pertamina (Persero) Marketing Operation Region 1 (MOR1) oil fuel Terminal (TBBM) Medan Group has a problem that is less optimized the cost of the company's operational activities so as to reduce the company's profit then in this research combine the concept of cost-based and value stream mapping by describing the flow of information and material on the value stream and continued by calculating the cost based. After the calculation of the results can be obtained before the cost reduction, then the company to run its operational activities that consist of the process of acceptanming its duties and responsibilities as a distribution of fuel so that the operational activities of the company issued a distribution fee of Rp. 3.964,- / liter, then from the supply point switching there are 68 industrial companies that can be transferred to the fuel Terminal Pematangsiantar and 34 diverted to the fuel Terminal range so that the company can reduce the cost of distribution fuel by Rp. 2.429,-/liter.ce, filling and distribution of fuel to issue a distribution fee of Rp. 6.393,-/liter, by describing the value stream of identification of some waste namely waste waiting, waste over processing, waste motions and waste of transportation. After the improvement is the reduction of waste and supply point transfer to several industrial companies, the company can create effectively and efficiently in perfor.

Abstract

UMKM UD. Andika is a furniture craftsman located in Sidotani Village, Bandar District, Simalungun Regency. This UMKM operates in the furniture industry with furniture products for doors, windows, cabinets, chairs and others. Furniture craftsmen must arrange marketing strategies that are considered appropriate to face competition in the market and must be able to analyze and anticipate environmental changes, both internally and externally. The research aims to identify internal and external factors. The use of SWOT (Strength, Weakness, Opportunity, Threat) and QSPM (Quantitative Strategic Planning Matrix) methods to determine the right company strategy in identifying optimal areas is very important for the development of the company's next strategy. The results showed that the SWOT analysis obtained 8 marketing strategies, namely maintaining quality, being more active in technology, improving management skills, maintaining an image, increasing the number of employees, maintaining excellence, implementing a digital marketing system, following trends in design and innovation. While in the QSPM analysis, the preferred strategy is to implement a digital marketing system in order to compete with new competitors.

Abstract

Eric Agustian Sihombing 198150102, redesigning the layout of tofu facilities to minimize material handling costs using the blocplan algorithm. And guided by Mr. Sutrisno, ST., MT as Advisor 1 lecturer, Mr. Yudi Daeng Polewangi, ST., MT as Supervisor 2. Material transfer or material handling is an activity that is very important in production activities and has a close relationship with industrial facility layout planning. Therefore, material handling distances must be minimized by adjusting the layout of existing production facilities or departments. Pak Ponimin's small tofu industry is a business unit engaged in food production, especially tofu and its preparations. In the design process, the small tofu industry, Mr. Ponimin, did not consider factory efficiency, both in terms of the smooth movement of material movement and the placement of work stations, so obstacles were found in the form of high material handling costs due to the long distances for material handling. The purpose of this research is to redesign the layout of the tofu factory so as to produce a proposed layout with lower material handling costs. This research uses the blockplan algorithm method, the blockplan algorithm is a heuristic algorithm that uses both quantitative and qualitative data. This algorithm can be used to design the layout of facilities that are construction or improvement in nature. Where the algorithm can solve single story and story layout problems. Layout redesign begins with data collection in the form of department names, number of departments, broad needs of departments, and the degree of proximity that is poured into the activity relationship chart (ARC). Based on the Blocplan calculation analysis, 20 alternative proposed layouts were produced. The proposed layout chosen is the layout with the highest R–score, namely 0.93. Application of the proposed layout will reduce material handling costs from Rp. 16,713,840, - to x Rp. 10,939,920,- per month. The percentage of material handling cost savings is 15.8% per month

Abstract

A construction project is a form of activity that lasts for a limited period of time, with certain resources, where the process requires a technique to be used, namely management, planning, scheduling to control. It is not uncommon for construction projects to experience delays in completing the completion time, so that many losses occur, especially in time and costs. With this fierce competition, timely completion of projects is a top priority for construction companies. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the time of scheduling for project completion using the CPM method on the grounds that the shape of the network or network planning can be identified along with the activities that are on the critical path, and can also be known for a more efficient time in carrying out this project. Based on network planning analysis using the CPM method, a series of work activities were obtained that were included in the critical path and the evaluation results showed that the project could be completed in 668 days and then accelerated using the CPM method again, so the project could be accelerated to 545 days, so that the percentage of time efficiency after crashing is 18.42%, with a total cost of IDR 176,557,549,469.00 with a percentage of cost efficiency after crashing is 0.03%.

Abstract

UKM (Small-Medium Business) Panggon Ngombe is one of the Small-Medium Businesses in Medan that produces Beverages. The processed product from UKM Panggon Ngombe is Boba Drink. UKM Panggon Ngombe has problems in marketing their products; one of the reasons is the unattractive product packaging and still not following customer needs. This study aimed to produce Kansei words that were priorities for beverage packaging improvements, to determine the importance of items affected consumer tastes, and to produce packaging category specifications and beverage packaging designs by using the Kansei Engineering method. Kansei Engineering is defined as a methodology to translate human psychological processes towards the expected product design, by defining consumers' expectations identified through Kansei words into product design. The sample used in the study used a survey method, it was a way of taking a sample with a questionnaire as a research tool in a population, and only 100 respondents were studied, so the conclusions showed were limited to objects. The results of the study produced Kansei words luxury, informative, aesthetic appearance, durable, practical, attractive, and hygienic. The importance level of the items obtained 7 Kansei words for bottle packaging, 6 Kansei words for plastic packaging materials, 7 Kansei words for brown and black packaging colors, 6 Kansei words for 600 ml packaging size, 7 Kansei words for packaging information, 7 Kansei words for circle logo shape, 7 Kansei words for comic san MS writing type, 7 Kansei words for yellow and white packaging writing colors, and 6 Kansei words for boba images on packaging. Specifications for beverage packaging in the bottles form with plastic packaging materials, brown and black packaging colors, packaging sizes 600 ml, yellow and white writing colors, circle logo shape, product information, and boba picture.

Abstract

UD. Sofa Bandar Tinggi is an UMKM in the manufacturing sector with sofa production. In producing sofas in the production process there is still waste. The wastage that occurred in the last year was as much as 17 sets of overproduction, 17 sets of unnecessary inventory, 22 sets of defects and 45 minutes of waiting time. Therefore, it is necessary to identify waste and analyze the causes of this waste to increase productivity by implementing lean manufacturing in the sofa production process using value stream mapping to determine product flow and information flow that support other activities and also to eliminate waste and find the causes of this waste by fishbone diagrams. Based on the current value stream mapping results, the lead time is 109.63 minutes, the value added is 94.21 minutes. After the process activity mapping was carried out, the current stream mapping future state results showed that the lead time decreased to 98.26 minutes. And also the translation of a problem from the fishbone diagram, namely the man factor (lack of discipline, low skill of workers), measurement (repeated wood cutting), method (uneven wood pieces), material (inappropriate wood thickness). The recommendations for improvement to minimize waste are in the form of Standard Operation Procedures and implementing 5S.

Abstract

The study analyzed the effect of price, product, and service quality on customer satisfaction at PT. Jalur Nugraha Ekakurir (JNE) Tebing Tinggi. This research was a quantitative descriptive study with data analysis techniques used, namely multiple linear regression and hypothesis testing (t-test and f test). This research was conducted at PT. Jalur Nugraha Ekakurir (JNE) Tebing Tinggi. On Gen. Sudirman street No.397 Medan-Tebing Tinggi, it was held on 12 December 2020 to 12 February 2021. The data collection method used a questionnaire and documentation. The results of multiple linear regression analysis obtained Y=6.226+0.085X1+0.244X2+0.184X3+e. The results showed that the Price had no positive and significant effect on Consumer Satisfaction at PT. JNE Tebing Tinggi indicated by the value of t count (0.873) t table (1.984) meaning that the Price had no significant effect on Consumer Satisfaction, so H1 was rejected. The product had no positive and significant effect on Consumer Satisfaction as indicated by the t value (1.975) 1 table (1.984), meaning that the product had no significant effect on Consumer Satisfaction, so H2 was rejected. Service Quality had a positive and significant effect on Consumer Satisfaction as indicated by the value of t count (3.477) t table (1.984), meaning that Service Quality had a significant effect on Consumer Satisfaction, so H3 was accepted. Price, Product, and Service Quality together had a positive and significant effect on Consumer Satisfaction. This was indicated by the value of Fcount (13.559) Ftable (3.09) meaning that the variables of price, product, and service quality together had a positive and significant effect on Customer Satisfaction at PT. JNE Tebing Tinggi then H4 was accepted. The coefficient of determination (R square) was 0.298, which meant 29.8% of the Consumer Satisfaction variable could be explained by the three independent variables consisting of Price, Product, and Service Quality, while the remaining 70.2% of the Consumer Satisfaction variable was influenced by other variables not discussed in this research.

Abstract

Buying decisions are part of consumer behavior; consumer behavior is research on how people, groups, and organizations select, buy, use, and how goods, services, ideas, or experiences satisfy their needs and wants. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of price, product variation, and product quality on purchasing decisions during the COVID-19 pandemic at UKM (Small Medium Enterprise) Cap Rumah Adat Minang Medan. The type of research is associative research. The populations in this study were all customers who bought cassava chips during the COVID-19 pandemic at UKM Cap Rumah Adat Minang Medan. The samples in the study were 100 consumers. The sampling technique used was non-robability sampling with an accidental sampling approach. Then, data collections methods used were questionnaires, interviews, and a literature study. The analytical method used was the multiple linear regression analysis methods which were processed with SPSS 25.0 software. The results obtained were that price, product variation, and product quality simultaneously affect the decision to buy cassava chips during the COVID-19 pandemic at UKM Cap Rumah Adat Minang Medan at age 20 with a score of 40.583 and 0.000 and age 21-25 with a score of 75.332 and 0.000. Meanwhile, price, product variation, and product quality simultaneously did not affect the decision to buy cassava chips during the COVID-19 pandemic at UKM Cap Rumah Adat Minang Medan at the age of 26-30 with a score of 0.249 and 0.000, age 30 with a score of 1.109 and 0.361, and the highest coefficient of determination was at the age of 21-25 with a score of 90.7%. Thus, price, product variety, and product quality had a very strong influence on buying decisions, the remaining 9.3% was influenced by other factors outside of this research variable.

Abstract

Production scheduling in the industrial world has an important role as a form of decision making. The company strives to have the most effective and efficient scheduling so as to increase the productivity produced by saving production completion time to a minimum. The problem is the company has not implemented a scheduling of production machines by using a certain scheduling method that suits the situation and condition of these machines. This study aims to determine the level of utility in the digester machine at PT. Perkebunan Nusantara IV PKS Gunung Bayu and scheduling work assignments on a digester machine using the indicator method can minimize production completion time. The method used is the indicator method. This method minimizes turnaround time by prioritizing machines with large capacity while still showing engine efficiency and predetermined turnaround time. The results of scheduling analysis using the indicator method produces an optimal schedule, with 14,784 hours available only 12,162 working hours of the digester machine, the difference in hours is 2,622 hours. The average utility of four digester machines is 82.26% and the average machine utility per month of the four digester machines reaches an average of 82.39%, so the average utilization of this digester machine is optimal (high).
