Abstract

This study aims to design a learning media based on the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model. This research is included in R&D (Research and Development) research, which is research that produces products that can be used to support the learning process of basic physics courses at Potensi Utama University. Making learning media using flash multimedia. The design of instructional media is made by IT practitioners, namely lecturers in the field of computers. Furthermore, to assess the suitability of the material of this study using a team of experts from several basic physics lecturers and physics teachers. The results of this study are the design of PBL-based learning media is quite feasible and in accordance with the physics material, especially HK. Newton. The assessment of the material suitability by the expert team is the feasibility of the content / depth of university level material with a percentage value of 82.85%. Contextual percentage of 81.20%. Presentation Feasibility 80.15%. Conformity to the model. PBL 86.25%. Suitability of evaluation with learning objectives 87.10%.

Abstract

Training in creating learning materials using Canva is becoming increasingly relevant in the context of modern education which is increasingly adopting technology. Canva, as an online graphic design platform, offers various features that enable teachers to create interesting, interactive and informative learning materials. However, this training also faces several challenges, including variations in technology skill levels among teachers and limited access and time. This research investigates the training process for creating learning materials using Canva and its impact on graphic design skills, use of technology, and student engagement in learning. The research results show that this training is effective in improving teachers' graphic design skills, expanding the use of technology in teaching, and increasing student engagement in the learning process. Practical implications of this research include the need for additional support and resources for teachers, as well as training approaches tailored to teachers' needs and skill levels. Further research could explore more effective strategies for overcoming these training-related challenges, as well as their long-term impact on the quality of learning.

Abstract

The purpose of community service activities is to implement the Tri Dharma of Higher Education and provide learning how to make business brochures and marketing flyers using Microsoft Word at Budi Agung Vocational School. Brochures and flyers are two of several methods that can be used in the marketing process. Both are designed and printed on paper and generally distributed to the general public as promotional media for certain products, services or campaigns. In marketing, good promotional media is needed in order to attract public interest. There are still many who think that Microsoft Word can only be used to type documents. In fact, the latest Microsoft Word update can be used for other things as well, one of which is to design business brochures and marketing flyers. Through training for Budi Agung Vocational High School students, it is hoped that they will be able to use Microsoft Word to make brochures and flyers as promotional and marketing media tools

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the growth response of oil palm seedlings in the main nursery to the provision of PGPR and NPK fertilizer. The research was carried out in Selayang Village, Selesai District, Langkat Regency, North Sumatra in December 2023 until completion. The research used a factorial randomized block design (RAK) with 2 treatment factors. where the first factor is PGPR with 3 levels: P0 (0 ml) P1 (40 ml) P2 (50 ml). while the second factor is NPK fertilizer with 3 levels: N0 (0 gr) N1 (5 gr) N2 (10 gr). The parameters observed were plant height (cm), stem diameter (mm), number of leaves (strands) and leaf area (cm2). The effect of PGPR gave real results on plant height parameters at ages 11, 13, 15, 17, 19, 21 .23 WAP, stem diameter at ages 11, 13, 15, 17, 19, 21, 23 WAP, leaf area at ages 15, 17, 19, 21, 23 WAP. Providing NPK fertilizer had a significant effect on plant height at 5, 7, 9 WAP, stem diameter at 11, 13, 15, 17, 19, 21, 23 WAP, and leaf area at 5 and 7 WAP. as well as interactions that showed no significant impact on plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves and leaf area.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and visualize poverty-prone areas in North Sumatra Province using a data mining approach with the K-Means clustering method. Unlike previous studies that often relied on a single indicator or lacked spatial visualization, this study integrates three key indicators: Poverty Rate (P0), Poverty Depth Index (P1), and Poverty Severity Index (P2), and utilizes Tableau software to present the results through interactive geo-mapping. Data were obtained from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of North Sumatra for the period 2018–2022. The clustering results indicate that North Nias and West Nias Regencies consistently fall into Cluster 3 with the highest poverty indicators, while Medan City, Deli Serdang, and Binjai are in Cluster 1 with the lowest indicators. Cluster quality evaluation using the Silhouette Score method shows that the P0 indicator yields the best cluster separation with a score of 0.71, followed by P1 at 0.50 and P2 at 0.40. These findings confirm that P0 is the most effective indicator for representing interregional poverty levels, while P1 and P2 serve as supporting variables. The resulting visualizations provide a comprehensive, data-driven overview that can serve as a strategic reference for policymakers in designing more targeted and effective poverty reduction programs.
