Abstract

The conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia has persisted for over a century, primarily revolving around cultural issues and territorial disputes, particularly concerning Nagorno-Karabakh. Since the first Nagorno-Karabakh war (1994), the two countries have been in conflict at least seven times, varying in intensity. The conflicts in 1994 and 2020 were the two largest in the history of both countries. This research is a descriptive study with a qualitative approach, aiming to explain the securitization process undertaken by Azerbaijan in the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh War. The study employs the Copenhagen School's securitization theory based on Barry Buzan’s “Security: A New Framework for Analysis”. The research concludes that the modern Azerbaijan identity is significantly influenced by the Nagorno-Karabakh issue and anti-Armenian sentiments. These sentiments facilitate the Azerbaijani government in securitizing Nagorno-Karabakh issue as an existential threat to the identity of Azerbaijan. The securitization process by the Azerbaijani government involves the education system and mass media in shaping national identity.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic that has hit Indonesia since the beginning of 2020 has had a multi-sectoral impact, including in the environmental sector. At the beginning of the pandemic, the amount of waste generated in Pontianak City had decreased but then increased again. This study was conducted to analyze waste management policies in Pontianak City in Post-Pandemic Covid-19 based on Environmental Democracy. The method used in this study is a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. The data were obtained from interviews with related parties and by conducting literature studies. Environmental democracy is a government system with the highest sovereignty over the people and places human interests in a position that goes hand in hand with environmental sustainability. This study found that waste management policies in Pontianak City can be carried out with Environmental Democracy through the provision of information related to waste management in Pontianak City which is more actual and easily accessible, providing participation space for the community to increase awareness and actively participate in policy formulation or regulations to reducing waste generation, and strengthening access to justice including regarding sanctions or fines for violations of pollution due to waste generation.

Abstract

The phenomenon of the threat of abstention is an indication that there is public disappointment with the government. Even though abstaining from voting is a citizen's right, the existence of a collective movement not to vote is a warning to the government regarding the quality of democratic life. The aim of this research is to analyze the emergence of the threat of abstention as a form of political criticism in the community in Punyanget Hamlet, Agak Village, Sebangki District, Landak Regency. The method used to achieve the research objectives is qualitative, with a case study type of research.. The results of the research show that the threat of abstention from the residents of Punyanget Hamlet as a form of social movement is caused by the alienation of residents who are lagging behind in terms of development compared to other hamlets. This has raised the collective awareness of the hamlet residents, involving community leaders, to carry out action in the form of an abstention movement in the 2024 elections. Community social movements as a form of collective action are able to provide reactions to related parties, because the actions taken take advantage of the political moment related to the event. general elections. Even though this movement tends to be incidental and not designed with a clear movement structure, it is able to build the collective spirit of citizens to carry out protests with the threat of abstaining from voting in the 2024 elections, by using social media as a platform for the movement to gain public support.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out and analyze the collaboration of actors in the implementation of stunting handling policies in Landak Regency. This research was conducted with qualitative methods, with the type of descriptive research. The results of the study indicate that the collaboration of actors in the implementation of stunting handling policies in Landak Regency has not run effectively, there was still sectoral ego and there is no willingness by the authorities and interested parties to cooperate with each other in handling stunting problems. Actors involved in handling stunting still seem to give the responsibility for handling stunting to the Health Office, while other agencies tend to be passive, while it is known that the problem of stunting is not only related to nutrition, but also relates to the behavior and awareness of the village community towards a healthy lifestyle, especially in rural areas. with high stunting rates. So far, the handling of stunting by related parties has been echoed more at the bureaucratic level, but has not been conveyed conceptually and operationally in the field, especially with the village government and village communities, so that village officials have not been able to actively participate in it. The community in collaboration is still positioned as an object and not a subject, so that the community still has a strong dependence on directives, instructions or socialization from the government.

Abstract

The Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) is one of the parties participating in the 2024 Legislative Election in Pontianak City. Political recruitment, particularly in the recruitment of legislative candidates, is crucial for the party's continued success in participating in the Legislative Election. In its recruitment process, the Articles of Association (AD-ART) serve as the primary foundation for the PKS Party in conducting its political recruitment. This study aims to determine the political recruitment process carried out by the PKS Party in determining its legislative candidates for the 2024 Legislative Election in Pontianak City, and whether it complies with the AD-ART. The research method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive research method. The results of this study indicate that the recruitment process uses an open and closed recruitment system. The open recruitment process carried out by the PKS Party is generally aimed at all Indonesian citizens who have the interest and potential to become legislative candidates without exception. Meanwhile, the closed recruitment process is specifically for cadres who have been fostered and the party structures who then nominate themselves for legislative candidates. In the process of determining its legislative candidates, the PKS Party considers the quality, capacity, potential, and track record of each candidate. Apart from that, in the legislative candidate recruitment process, there was 1 point that was not implemented in accordance with the PKS Party's Articles of Association/Bylaws in its recruitment process.

Abstract

There are numerous ways for the younger generation to participate in politics, but there are evidence that they are unwilling to join (anti-politics). This study tries to expose two things: (1) the causes of this trend, and (2) remedies to support smooth political circulation in Indonesia as a democratic country. This study accomplishes this purpose by employing Fairclough's Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA). Data acquired from the controversial documentary Sexy Killer's netnography on YouTube. This study highlights several significant findings, particularly the ambivalence and conflict between reality and ideals in today's youth and society. They are skeptical of the earnestness and dedication of government leaders elected through a democratic political process. At the same time, people expect government personnel to carry out their responsibilities. The implications of this study's findings are a criticism of the political education model, which has so far prioritized practical factors above theoretical aspects (content, composition, and proportion).
