Abstract

Political communication is a very important aspect in the political battle process to win council seats at both the central and regional levels. This research aims to describe and identify the political communication carried out by the winning regional head candidate pair Martin Rantan, SH, M.Sos, and Deputy Regional Head H. Farhan, SE, M.Si in Ketapang Regency in 2020. This research uses descriptive qualitative research. with analytical methods. Technique for determining informants using a natural setting. The data sources used are primary data sources and secondary data sources. The data collection technique for this research is by conducting interviews, observation, and documentation/library study. The results of the political communication research examined in this research on the Martin Rantan - Farhan pair as winners of the Regional Head election in Ketapang Regency, West Kalimantan Province in 2020 consist of; communicator, communication message, communication media, and audience. Based on interviews conducted by all sources related to political communication, it can be concluded that several parties were assigned as communicators in the case of the winning team, the Martin Rantan – Farhan pair, namely a successful team that was felt to have communicator abilities and performance as well as high credibility. The communication message of the couple Martin Rantan-Farhan is expressed in the form of socialization with the characteristic jargon, namely "Ketapang is progressing towards a prosperous society". The communication media used are very varied, such as using social media in the form of Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter for millennial voters, in addition to using door-to-door brochures/pamphlets, as well as banners and technical guidance. The audience, namely the entire community in Ketapang Regency, felt that there were several weaknesses in the political communication carried out but this did not reduce the enthusiasm of the audience or the public for the Martin Rantan – Farhan pair so that they could win the regional elections in 2020.

Abstract

Abstract:  Digital transformation in education requires teachers to not only master learning technologies but also have adequate data security literacy. However, in Singkawang City, teachers' understanding of digital security remains relatively low, particularly regarding basic concepts such as phishing, malware, data encryption, and online privacy protection practices. This community service activity aims to provide teachers with an understanding of digital ethics, digital culture, and data security as part of efforts to prevent the risk of data breaches and misuse of sensitive student data. The method used in this community service activity consists of four stages: preparation, implementation of training, evaluation, and reporting. After participating in the community service activity, which involved comprehensive and practical training emphasizing practical skills, participants gained a gained a better understanding of digital ethics, digital culture, and data security. This community service activity underscores that enhancing teachers' digital security literacy not only impacts student data protection but also supports the development of a safe, ethical, and responsible digital culture within the educational environment. Abstrak: Transformasi digital dalam dunia pendidikan menuntut guru untuk tidak hanya menguasai teknologi pembelajaran, tetapi juga memiliki literasi keamanan data yang memadai. Namun, di Kota Singkawang, tingkat pemahaman guru mengenai keamanan digital masih relatif rendah, khususnya terkait konsep dasar seperti phishing, malware, enkripsi data, hingga praktik perlindungan privasi daring. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pemahaman mengenai etika digital, budaya digital, dan keamanan data bagi guru sebagai upaya mencegah risiko kebocoran dan penyalahgunaan data sensitif siswa. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan pengabdian ini dengan empat tahapan, yakni persiapan, proses pelaksanaan pelatihan, evaluasi, dan pelaporan. Setelah mengikuti kegiatan pengabdian berupa pelatihan komprehensif dan aplikatif yang menekankan keterampilan praktis, peserta menjadi lebih paham dan mengerti mengenai etika digital, budaya digital, dan keamanan data. Kegiatan pengabdian ini menegaskan bahwa peningkatan literasi keamanan digital guru tidak hanya berdampak pada perlindungan data siswa, tetapi juga mendukung terbangunnya budaya digital yang aman, etis, dan bertanggung jawab di lingkungan pendidikan.

Abstract

There are numerous ways for the younger generation to participate in politics, but there are evidence that they are unwilling to join (anti-politics). This study tries to expose two things: (1) the causes of this trend, and (2) remedies to support smooth political circulation in Indonesia as a democratic country. This study accomplishes this purpose by employing Fairclough's Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA). Data acquired from the controversial documentary Sexy Killer's netnography on YouTube. This study highlights several significant findings, particularly the ambivalence and conflict between reality and ideals in today's youth and society. They are skeptical of the earnestness and dedication of government leaders elected through a democratic political process. At the same time, people expect government personnel to carry out their responsibilities. The implications of this study's findings are a criticism of the political education model, which has so far prioritized practical factors above theoretical aspects (content, composition, and proportion).
