Abstract

An effective bedding material must be compatible have high moisture absorption, lightweight, reduce feses contaminant, non-toxic and available. This research were conducted to investigate the effects of different litter materials on broiler performance (feed intake, average daily gain, body weight, feed conversion) and quality of litter (moisture, bulk density, temperature, pH). One hundred twenty eight broilers (Cobb CP-707 strain) were randomly distribute to different litter treatment: rice hull (control), peanut straw, corncob and corn straw. This experiments were conducted using a completely randomized design with four levels of treatment and four replications. Data were statistically analyzed using ANOVA with 5% significance level. A significance treatment (P≤0,05) will be continue analyzed to Duncan Multiple Range Test. The results showed that (1) litter materials (rice hull, peanut straw, corncob, and corn straw) had no significant influence (P>0,05) on feed intake, average daily gain, body weight and feed conversion. (2) rice hull, peanut straw, corncob and corn straw as a litter materials until 32-day treatment had significant influence (P≤0,05) on litter moisture but non significant on bulk density, temperature an pH of litters.

Abstract

The partnership scheme is a kind of cooperation between business with the farmers in term of livestock business management. The partner farmer groups act as plasma, while the partner of companies act as core. In the broiler partnership, the partner or core companies provide farming production facilities such as DOC, feed, medicines, technical supervising and product marketing, while the plasma provide the chicken house and worker. The research was conducted to evaluate the performance of broiler chicken farmer an income with partnership system. Total respondents were 122 farmers who joined to broiler contract farming. This sampling was conducted using by proportionate stratified random sampling. The results of the research showed that the depletion, body weight, FCR and PI was significantly affected on income but harvesting day isn’t significant. The lower the depletion, FCR or the higher body weight and PI, made higher the income level.

Abstract

Broiler agribusiness is currently leading to consolidation of farmers and broiler industries with a contract farming partnership. The broiler industry that implements cooperation between plasma/farmers and the nucleus/large integrators has yet improve the welfare of small-scalefarmers. In fact, farmers are more accepting risks than getting profits and so that it is not accordance with the principles of partnership and empowerment. Basically, farmers need the commitment of stakeholders to support their empowerment. The method to encourage strengthening ofstakeholder’scommitments starting from: (a) The Government or stakeholders initiating meetings between farmers and local integrator to discuss evaluating the implementation of contract farmingpartnership; (b) The government monitors the local integrators to make a fair cooperation contract or memorandum of understanding; (c) Periodic monitoring of contract farming partnership agreements, such as procurement of inputs, management and outputs; (d) Implementing integrated assistance where stakeholders are involved.

Abstract

The success of artificial insemination is not only a factor of feed, seeds and environment but also the quality of human resources. It depends not only from the inseminators but also on farmers’ behaviours as main actors in artificial insemination, which are knowledge, attitudes, and skills. The research was conducted at Amarasi sub-district, aiming to determine the level of farmers’ adoption of artificial insemination, and the effect of farmers’ behaviors on the adoption rate of artificial insemination in beef cattle. The sampling method was purposive sampling, the number of respondents was 40 breeders, data were analyzed descriptively. The effect of farmers’ behavior on adoption rates, the analysis used was multiple linear regression. The relationship between knowledge and adoption rate was a positive and close relationship (rs= 0.715), attitude and adoption rate was a positive relationship (rs= 0.693), skills were positively related to moderate closeness (rs= 0.450), with the adoption rate. Key words: Behaviour, Adoption, Artificial Insemination, Farmers, Beef Cattle.

Abstract

Kata kunci: Adsorben, bambu, arang, ekskreta ABSTRACTEfforts to reduce ammonia volatile in poultry house by using alternative materials that can serve as adsorbents added to the litter material.
